Monster Hunter Portable 3rd (HD Ver. or not)

I am attempting to play multiplayer with a friend on the same network. Both of us can connect to the guild hall but only one at a time. If one person is connected the other person trying to connect will be stuck just before being able to choose a guild hall. PPSSPP will say "initializing network" then the game will be stuck in a position with no ui, the game is running but you cant move or press any buttons. If the person who was in the guild hall leaves and the other person reloads the other computer can connect but then the one that could previously connect gets stuck. We are on the same network. This happens with any set of computers we try.
