star ocean crashes with cheats enabled

Importing cheats with cheats.db works fine for my Star Ocean Second Evolution, Grand Knight History, and Growlanser. If I even have the 'Enable Cheats' box ticked the ppsspp crashes almost immediately. Sometimes I'll be able to tick the option and I'll be able to bring up the cheat list, I'll select a single cheat like Roddick 225 SP (sometimes multiple/other combos of cheats) and it'll crash when I exit menu to get back in game.
