The solution for the text worked nicely, thanks.
Apparently, a new problem came up, though.

In some of the 3D scenes you can control the characters in so far, the screen where the scenario would appear is just pitch black. You can control the character, do actions, talk to other people and stuff - you just can't see it. However, in some scenes it just doesn't happen and you can see everything.

Here is where you can first control Rei. You can see everything inside her apartment, and do actions freely, but when you press Circle to select an action...

When you go to the school, for example, you are prompted to go talk to someone.
   

This is the same screen as above with Software Rendering on.
   

This is not in Rei's scenario only - it happens in all of them, in specific scenes (Shinji's tutorial tour doesn't show the problem, but when he's taken to Misato's house, it shows up).

Not to mention the screen flickers a lot and it is possible to take a glimpse of the 3D scenario for a milisecond, but it goes black again. Since even walking in the game lowers your A.T., it is basically impossible to play normally without spending some time (and A.T.) walking into walls trying to find people/places.

The Rendering Mode is set to Non-buffered (any other option just makes the screen go black entirely) and I've trying enabling/disabling this or that to see what helps, or even trying older versions, but nothing seems to work.
