No, The installer do all of these add registry values, run shells and extract to differ folder and off an UNINSTALL sollution

Is it really something that special.
You will either right click=>extract or double left click and then couple of times clicking on next button.

As I said,installers are only useful if the program need to write to the registry or save files on different places.

Installing emulators is pointless. It just adds an unneeded entry in your programs list. But as long as there's always a download -> extract option, I couldn't care less.
