On the PSP, yes, you can, so I imagine with some finagling we can make it work on this.

I can't comment on the steps of how it will be on PPSSPP, but this topic here is what I used to do just that, and I can confirm that the updates work when taking them from the PSP and putting them in PPSSPP: http://wololo.net/talk/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=10622

I think the only issue is having the updater it creates actually do it's job. Without knowing too much about PPSSPP's internet abilities (I have no idea if it even HAS any), I don't know how the updater will do much of anything.

I actually tried the steps in updating my SRW OE to the latest patch using the isotool, it did prompt that the patch was applied, but after I tried to run the patched ISO, it just force closed and won't let me play it. maybe when there are new builds, it may be fixed.

RE: Iso tool
@huntersylch about updating - it's not an emulation bug hence will not be "fixed" - we simply don't have the decryption keys for it, and at this point it's likely we'll never get them.
You can check the ppsspp log after running the update which fails and you should find somewhere there that it asks for one of the missing kirk 7 keys, you can find the list of ones we have in ~ here.
What happens is that, because the key is missing, emulator passes encrypted data when not being able to decrypt it, but isotool doesn't expect that since it would never happen on real psp for which it was written for and instead of printing out some kind of error, it continues to patch the iso with bad file effectively breaking the game.

RE: Iso tool
oh I see... so it may not be possible to actually run an update through either pc or phone emulator because of these missing decryption keys. thanks for the note sir, though I was actually excited to see it run on the emulator, hehehe

sir, actually I got the isotool working on the recent build v0.9.9-68-g404766c to patch my SRW OE to 1.08. what I did was:

1. run ISOTOOL
2. selected the .iso on the ISO folder (the iso file should already be on the root of your SD card, since I'm using a Samsung Tab)
3. Press X on the game to get to the next option
4. Select "EBOOT decrypt", then choose "yes" on all questions to start the process
5. Once it’s finished decrypting, choose again the game then press X, this time choose "Patch Prometheus"
6. choose ME631 from the options then choose yes
7. once it says "finished", the game is patched
8. exit the iso tool then run the game.

I haven't cheched the ppsspp.ini to verify if there were changes, but before, when I do the same steps, after I load the patched game, it immediately closes

RE: Iso tool
Prometeus is not a game update, it's something like a "crack".

ISOTool
So far, I know that making backup copies works. But updating games wont work. Would result in a crash.

You can download patches "officially" (They have some sort of official page, it shouldn't be able to aviable for the public but whatever), but I dont know if ISOtool tries to connect to this or to what.

All of this is at version 1.0.1, if anyone knows another version that worked better, let me know

But this doesnt actually upgrade the game
