It'll be done in less than a year at the current rate it's going.

Henrik does not like to be asked that. Currently he is busy with PPSSPP and has no time to think of other emulators.
He even said a while ago that was not going to mess with the port of Dolphin Emulator. But maybe he try something like a PS2 emulator Smile. Maybe in a year, have already smatphones 2Ghz + and very powerful GPUs, perhaps take to start the project.

Phones: Poco F3 8GB/256GB (Snapdragon 870 5G) and Redmi Note 6 Pro 4/64GB (Snapdragon 636)

PC: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 / 16GB RAM DDR4 3600MHz / NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti 6GB / Windows 10 Pro

But the thing is, ps2 and psp games are from the same generation, so to speak, and thus their gameplays, graphics and storylines will be of a similar feel. In other words, whatever game the ps2 has, the psp also has a similar, albeit weaker, equivalent. On the other hand, comparing across generations, like between ps1, ps2 and ps3, we can see completely new subgenres, if not entirely new categories, of games that were brand new and completely fresh.

In other words, if you've already got a psp emulator, having a ps2 emulator isn't going to be that much of a boost. It's like upgrading from an iPhone 4 to and iPhone 4s.

So if I had to speculate, I'd say the next project might involve the nds (3d/Xl etc). Because that will have a very different library of games, and so it will be worth the effort to make a proper nds emulator.

RE: What will be the next app after PPSSPP??
PS2 have much different games. Thr gameplay ie better, the graphics also. Much games that have to PS2, not have to PSP. Would good a PS2 emulator. I think the PSP is just a console between PS1 and PS2.

RE: What will be the next app after PPSSPP??
No one gonna develop ps2 emu since its unstable and emulating such thing as ps2 on phone would need ar least phone with 2.0ghz procesors (quad at least) even on pc and we got anothet topic that gonna be closed in a day Wink wish those kind of topics would never exist or at least people that keep creating such of them at least google before posting something ridiculous . Plus as far as I know rhis forum is about psp not ps2 ps3 4 5 or any other consoles so can we close all the topics related to other wmulators? Cause its getting borring .

O hai! Testing everything Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE Android 4.3

RE: What will be the next app after PPSSPP??
Well, I think Henrik has a gift for creating emulators. He created PPSSPP and threw it on November 1, 2012, while JPSCP was released well before. JPCSP has its advantages for yourself, such as video support and ATRAC3plus more compatible games. But it is very slow, only works with Java installed, and I think that only works on Windows.

It is difficult to create an emulator, and make it work on multi platforms, it is much more difficult. But PPSSPP addition to work on many operating systems, it is still faster, has more daily updates on Orphis, and many other advantages.

I suppose in one year and a half to two years, we will have 2.0 to 3.0 Ghz on smartphones, if Henrik want to develop any other emulator, he could quietly. He could even risk the dream PS2 emulator, or other consoles like PS Vita, Nintendo 3DS, Dreamcast, Xbox and others. Maybe by then, I think I have discovered how the architecture of the first two. And in five years, PS3 or Xbox 360 Big Grin.

RE: What will be the next app after PPSSPP??
A psvita or nds3d Xl emulator might not really be worth the trouble since they are much harder to emulate, even ignoring the hardware requirements, and they have a relatively small library of games due to poor sales.

As for a ps2 emulator, it would only be available on mobile at least two years from now. But Sony might release an Xperia Play 2 with emulation support for ps2 games, just like how the current Xperia Play can play ps1 games.

RE: What will be the next app after PPSSPP??
I'm hoping for a Dreamcast emulator more than any other console. It needs to be done for mobiles and tablets!! But i also hope Streets of Rage: Remake can be ported, but that probably won't ever happen, since its coded in bennu. Which is almost dead Sad
