Error loading save states on different device (Sword Art Online: Infinity) PC/Android
Just as the title says.. I only tried moving save states from "Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment". Both devices has the latest 1.80 PPSSPP version. PC saves are loadable only on PC and Android saves are loadable only on Android; if I try moving them they just fail to load.

Don't use savestates. They can easily not be compatible with versions, just transfer your save game files.

RE: Error loading save states on different device (Sword Art Online: Infinity) PC/Android
In game saves only copy the data the game wants to save and makes a file from that. Because it is supposed to be "safe data" (though plenty of exploits, hacking consoles have come from this supposedly "safe data") it should work the exact same on every PSP no matter if it is a physical one or a virtual one and no matter the firmware of the system (assuming nothing in the code changed how saves are made or read).

SaveStates are like putting your computer to sleep. It makes a copy of the virtual PSP's memory and saves it to a file. When the savestate is loaded it reads that file and loads it all back in to memory. Which means if any part of the virtual PSP gets a value it was not expecting in it's active memory then something bad can happen (crash, corruption, just a failure to load, ect.)

Basically in game saves should be your main save (unless you are playing one of those dumb games that rate your final score on how many times you saved). SaveStates should be treated as a temporary save to cheat fate and pick a different option, get a different random reward (though you need to figure out when the game decides what random reward you get is calculated sometimes it is before you start the fight and sometimes it is right before it gives it to you), or to make a quick save when the game does not have the option available to you (less of an issue on more modern consoles and on handheld systems, though a few JRPGs didn't learn that lesson).
