Final Fantasy IV : The complete collection

RE: Final Fantasy IV : The complete collection
Make sure Catalyst AI is off in your Radeon driver settings. Also try:
* Disable vertex cache.
* Disable hardware transform.
* Change "render resolution" to 1x.
* Ensure "Texture Scaling" is set to "Off".
* Ensure "Texture Filtering" is set to "Auto".

In this game, those settings should give you the least glitches afaik. You can try setting "Texture Filtering" to nearest as well, but that will make graphics look worse.

But the green outlines specifically are probably caused by upscaling by your driver.

RE: Final Fantasy IV : The complete collection
Thanks a lot. That actually worked. Although Catalyst AI doesn't seem to be a thing anymore. Took me a while to work out the alternative. Instead I had to put texture filtering quality on high quality which is the lowest setting. Then I turned off surface format optimisation. Along with those other suggestions, that seems to have done the trick.

Upon further testing, the catalyst controls had nothing to do with it. The green outline was purely a result of the emulator's upscaling, not my graphics drivers. When I turn upscaling off in the emulator settings, the green outline vanishes. Whereas when I tweak settings in catalyst control it achieves nothing except perhaps a minor performance gain.

Oh, okay. Yeah, it's caused by upscaling one way or another. I've seen people have it in games even with PPSSPP's upscaling off due to driver upscaling.

Has a solution been found for the crashing airship fault yet? I'm having that problem now.

Not yet. Only way through is to temporarily go back to v0.9.1-1965-g027ba31 on the buildbot, play through that portion, save your game (using a proper save made at a save point, not a savestate) and head back to the latest build you were using.

RE: Final Fantasy IV : The complete collection
Hey there, I was wondering about a certain graphical glitch in FFIV. I searched around, both in google and in the forums + github and I couldn't find anything about it, so that made me think that it might be the result of my settings.

The issue I'm seeing is the "screen shatter" effect that occurs before boss battles. For me, it only shows as a shaded black screen as illustrated below:

as opposed to the effect shown here, for instance:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pla...N-i0#t=622
EDIT: Actually this might be more illustrative: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhle4lrmZ...lpage#t=50

For clarity, what the effect is supposed to do is take the current frame and make it look like it shatters, in this case it is mostly white due to the mist.

This looks to me like either a blending problem or a failure to get the current frame pixel data.

Is this a known issue, or is it caused by some setting?

I'm running the 64 bit version on Windows 7 (with an ATI card) with the following settings (I'm only including the ones that I think would be relevant):

Buffered Rendering (makes no difference for this issue)
Frameskipping off
Mipmapping on (no difference)
Resolution 2x (no difference, it's still broken in 1x)
Hardware transform off (no difference)
Software skinning on (no difference)
Vertex cache on (no difference)
Upscale off
Texture filter nearest (yes, I like the pixelated style and no, no difference)

All hack settings off (since the stencil issues were fixed), and
Disable stencil test, Always depth write and tex coord speedhack don't affect it.

1. The Summon crash:
To anyone having the ppsspp crash take place when an enemy does a summon. I didn' start seeing that error until I went into the Tower of Babil in the Overworld. One enemy, the Sorcerer, will try to summon creatures if you kill his companion Ghost Knights. When he performed the summon, ppsspp would crash to desktop. To solve this, I turned on Low quality splines and bezier curves (speed up) and ppsspp stopped crashing when the Sorecerer performed a summon. Based upon this evidence, maybe enabling this option will help with other enemies that summon.

I had this error happen to me on FFIV Interlude. Your suggestion worked great. I'm using PPSSPP v 0.9.6.2 64bit pc version.

The game stopping crash during the playback of certain FMVs (notably the underground airship one) has been resolved by [Unknown] since v0.9.6-277-g968be3f.

I suppose the game can be moved back to Playable status, unless there are any other showstopping bugs/crashes to report?

I had tried this and every other setting but I still keep getting the underworld crash in the newest build. This game should not be moved to playable since this is a serious bug.

Anyone has a mirror of the build that does work? (v0.9.1-1965-g027ba31)
That build is old and I can't find it in the dev builds page.

What's your OS/platform?

I do have a backup but only for the 64bit Windows version:-

EDIT:- Ahh, I see what you mean, the crash is back again in the latest build. Will do a trace to figure what broke it again.

EDIT2:- The crashing in the underworld bug starts coming back again from v0.9.6-303-g4d4fb98 onwards. You can use v0.9.6-295-gb5f5d16 from the buildbot as the issue is still fixed in that build. I've updated the issue report here:-

Yes, I was using 0.96-317, and it crash in the underworld cutscene (both windows x86, x64). I didn't know it was fixed and 'unfixed' again Undecided.
Anyway, thanks for the mirror!

What are you trying to use to play the game? A keyboard? A controller?

4GHz AMD 3900X, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 6GB Nvidia RTX 2060, Asus Crosshair 7 Hero (Wifi), Linux
