RE: Jeanne D'Arc FMV Sound Lag / FPS drops / Text run-on
Hello Zyphr, and welcome to the forums.

Firstly, there's already a thread for the game here, post any further issues about the game over there next time around.

With that out of the way, I'll address your post on a point by point basis:-

1. The FMVs. Yes, they have slightly off timing/alignment issues. Hopefully they can be dealt with in the future, but this doesn't affect the gameplay directly.

2. As for the gameplay FPS drops, the game is currently very demanding as compared to other games due to the specific method used to fix the missing characters issue. What are your system specs, we need a baseline for comparison. (Open PPSSPP --> Settings --> System --> Developer Tools --> System Information)

3. The unformatted text is a shortcoming of the custom fonts currently bundled with the emulator. Use your own PSP's original fonts to fix this issue, you can rip it from your own PSP using this guide.

The game is actually completely playable until the end if even you have even a mediocre system like I do plus the original PSP fonts, as I've stated in a previous post.

PPSSPP Modern Testbed:-
Intel Core i5 4690K @ 4.0 GHz
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5 VRAM @ 1138/6500 Mhz
16 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

PPSSPP Ancient Testing Rig:-
Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 @ 2.8GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon 4670 1GB GDDR3 VRAM @ 843/882 MHz
8 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1066 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

RE: Jeanne D'Arc FMV Sound Lag / FPS drops / Text run-on
CPU: AMD E-450 APU
Threads: 4, 2 per Core, 2 cores
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6320
OpenGL: 3.1.12217
GLSL: 4.20

Sorry for putting up an extra post. I'm sure the game makes it through to the end, but the battle sound/music stuttering and cursor jumping across the map with a 1 second press of a button just gives me headaches. Using the latest dev build, sound and movement stuttering outside of battle is fine with an auto-frameskip of 1-3, but it doesn't help at all in-battle. I've played, and finished, many stuttering games before, so that a testament to how bad the battles are for me. My laptop isn't the greatest, though. Thanks for the font info, though!

RE: Jeanne D'Arc FMV Sound Lag / FPS drops / Text run-on
Yeah, your laptop/netbook isn't gonna cut it for this game. I just had a look at your GPU and it's definitely insufficient for this game in particular.

As you will know, every game that is emulated has different requirements, some like the God of War games require more power, others like Trails in the Sky/Crisis Core are lighter, so being able to play one game smoothly is not an indication of your laptop's abilities to play others at the same speed.

What you can do, besides using frameskip, is to try playing at 1x Rendering Resolution combined with Buffered Rendering. Higher Rendering Resolutions or even Auto isn't gonna cut it for your specs.

Alternatively, a good ol' AMD driver update could do wonders for your system.

RE: Jeanne D'Arc FMV Sound Lag / FPS drops / Text run-on
Actually, after replacing the fonts with the originals, the battles are running at 95-100% speed. w/ auto frameskip-1 and 1:1 resolution on my 1080i HDTV.(and I always keep my drivers updated. I didn't get my first computer yesterday Wink ) Don't know why those fonts weren't just left in there, anyways, but I guess originality beats functionality, or something. And I've played and beaten both GoWs, on this laptop, and have never had really any issues with them or any other game besides this one. Well, anyways, thanks for the tip about the fonts, can't believe that solved 2 issues in one!

Good to know. Oh yeah, I forgot that frameskipping really helps with the process too, the lower RR solution was meant for if you had no inclination to use frameskipping.

I stated that I was using frameskip in my second post.

RE: Jeanne d'Arc
Does this game still have video card requirements(from 70 games, this was the only game that was not working correctly the last time I tried it...because of video card requirements)or it's working now on older cards?

Yep, you still need a card that supports OpenGL 3.x or OpenGL ES 3.0 at a minimum to get it working correctly. Nothing has changed in that department.

So ATI cards from Radeon HD 2xxx onwards and NVIDIA cards from Geforce 8xxx series onwards for desktop. Intel card support for GL 3.x+ is still a bit iffy, I think Henrik removed 3.x+ detection for Intel's cards due to the issues users were having with it.

Bug Jeanne D'Arc 0.9.8 issue
Hey PPSSPP!

I was so happy with the latest build of PPSSPP which made me happy since the Jeanne D'Arc sprites issue was now fixed, however, there's this teeny-weeny issue with the letters though.

They're TOO BIG. I tried it with 0.9.5 and it looked perfectly normal (normal text size) but the sprites have gone AWOL.

Anybody know a fix or a thread leading to it? THANKS A MILLION!

Here's a screenshot of the game on the latest build:

Refer to my previous post on the matter.

The only way to fix this at the moment is to use the original PSP fonts that you'd have to dump yourself from your own PSP.

What the...
I just tried the game anyway and what to see...everything is visible when buffered rendering is enabled on any rev after 0.9.6-340(it started working somewhere between 0.9.6-312 and 340)

The only difference between now and before is that now I have Service Pack 3 and VC++ 2013 Redist installed and no antivirus(it was Avast)

Edit:Btw I see in some posts that the "Always Dept Write"(now renamed to "Force Dept Write")option should be enabled to make the characters visible but at least here, enabling it does the opposite effect(makes them not visible)
