[Resolved] Different 0.9.6 builds crashing AMD drivers
Sorry in advance, I don't know the best format to explain the issue.
Until ppsspp-v0.9.6-57-g24885ad-windows-x86 I get no problems, everything runs fine. Starting with ppsspp-v0.9.6-59-g214cc01-windows-x86, things start going wrong. ULUS10456 Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! absolutely crashes my system on load (black screen) and I have to reboot. ULJS00379 2nd Super Robot Raisen Z Hakai-hen crashes too but after some moments I get video again, with a W7 message saying "AMD drivers crashed." This happens when I choose Start Game. This happens up to ppsspp-v0.9.6-96-g40a0705-windows-x86 Starting with ppsspp-v0.9.6-103-gb832cf1-windows-x86, 2nd SRTZ works past the Start Game screen, and the previously mentioned crash happens instead when the first character portrait is shown in the first map. This still happens even with the latest build, which is why I'm posting this after all. So uhh... help please. Will post any requested system info. |

This is about when we started using OpenGL 3.3 in the shaders. That's probably the issue. What video card do you have? Are you using recent drivers? You can find out by going to Start -> Run... -> type "dxdiag" -> OK. Any answer is fine if it asks about WHQL, then click the "Display 1" tab -> information should be shown about your card and driver. If the date is not recent, definitely try updating it. -[Unknown] |

Well, I don't know how to say this, but it indeed stopped crashing with updated drivers. I'm not usually this dense. Thanks [Unknown].
Still, stopping it from crashing the whole system when the drivers aren't up to date would be at least nice. |

RE: Different 0.9.6 builds crashing AMD drivers
Well, indeed, but it's hard to know what was even causing that. It's difficult to debug other people's software you don't have the code to, and even harder with drivers...
Not to say it's impossible. But the only way I know how to do it requires having an affected device and a whole lotta crashes (or just a few if I'm lucky.) -[Unknown] |
