PPSSPP as Windows Shell
Hey guys, I'm new here and also new using the emulator.
I'm quite impressed by the quality of the emulator and I love the interface, so I tried forcing Windows 8 into accepting PPSSPP as it's shell. I've done it before with Steam, XBMC and Windows Media Center and all of them work with no problem. I forced PPSSPP into starting in full screen, and that all works fine, the problem is, when I start the dedicated user I created, PPSSPP crashed and tells me it can't find ui_atlas.zim in the assets folder, even though I've never touched it. If I turn it off, turn the explorer on and then turn on PPSSPP again, it works fine. Any reason why this happens? Any solution? Thanks in advance guys! |

RE: PPSSPP as Windows Shell
Did you try the latest releases from http://www.ppsspp.org/downloads.html#devbuilds ?
We handle the "working directory" better now than at the last release. |

Now I need to understand how to best configure the emulator You see, the problem I've been having is that the cut-scenes play with no sound (issue I had with Castlevania: Dracula X and Tenchu: Time of the Assassins), but I was okay with this. It was when I tried Dragon Ball Z: Tenkaichi Tag Team that I first had heavy rendering issues, the emulator cannot render the games polygons, or rather, my laptop can't. I tried fiddling with the configurations a bit and managed to both make the game play a bit better (albeit choppy) and the cut-scenes started to play audio too, but the games were choppy. Now, I don't want to fiddle with it any more since I'm not sure what did it and I won't know how to go back. If I give you my specifications, will you be able to tell me what the best configuration is? |

RE: PPSSPP as Windows Shell
Here are links to two great guides that should help you
beginners guide: http://forums.ppsspp.org/showthread.php?tid=5352 performance guide: http://forums.ppsspp.org/showthread.php?tid=5236 As for problems with specific games it's best to do a search for its official thread and read through it to see what problems already exist for it and if possible how to solve those problems. then if that doesn't help or your problem isn't listed there, post your issue in that thread along with what version of the emulator you are using IE: 0.9.1-744 which is the latest dev build, and what platform you are using such as android, windows 64-bit, or windows 32-bit. |
