Unable to remap the controller buttons

My controller was working fine just the other day, so i know its compatible, but since last night i havent been able to remap the buttons. When i try without the controller connected, i can remap, but after connecting my controller it says the button was remapped to "pad1.X Rotation-" i just need to know if this is common or fixable

Are you using android?

If so, try this?

With your controller connected and active,

goto settings / controls / control mapping

Then, click restore defaults
