DX 12 and OpenGL Vulkan
I'm not complaining about the performance of PPSSPP coz it's really good. I'm just curious if you guys are planning to support the upcoming API's.
Athlon x4 635 @3.5 660 OC 2GB 4GB DDR3 @7-7-7-20 Gamers cannot gain anything without first giving something in return, to obtain something of equal value must be lost that is gaming world's first law of equivalent exchange. In those days, I really believed that would be the world's one and only truth. |

RE: DX 12 and OpenGL Vulkan
Maybe but iirc DX11 wasn't implemented in PPSSPP? Guess its gonna take a while for either of those.

RE: DX 12 and OpenGL Vulkan
We plan to support Vulkan, we're hoping it will help on mobile devices, some of which have really terrible driver issues sometimes.
DirectX 12, I dunno, maybe? Depends on if there's motivation to do so. -[Unknown] |

RE: DX 12 and OpenGL Vulkan
Do you think Vulkan could help getting a significant performance improvement on PC ? Or it will be noticeable only on mobile devices ?

RE: DX 12 and OpenGL Vulkan
I think desktop drivers are already usually pretty good, at least in comparison to mobile.
It's definitely not impossible, for certain areas / games (for example, maybe it would help situations like God of War by reducing per-vertex overhead - *MAYBE* but not likely, or Tales of Phantasia X which actually runs faster in Direct3D 9 than OpenGL for me.) By the way, it's also not impossible that we'll do a bunch of work to get Vulkan working, and it'll be slower, everywhere - even on mobile... and we'll find out we have to do a ton of work to even get to where the OpenGL drivers were. There's no sure thing yet, the API isn't even out yet. -[Unknown] |

RE: DX 12 and OpenGL Vulkan
My GFX card is a 980ti, I suppose I won't notice any speed improvements with vulkan...

RE: DX 12 and OpenGL Vulkan
Not interesting about DX12 because Only W10.
I hope team PPSSPP will work much on Vulkan than DX12 for my ZF2 and my computer W7 Primary Computer: [CPU] i5 2500, [CG] GTX 560 Ti, 8 GB RAM, W7 x64 Second Laptop: [CPU] Intel Atom N270, 1 GB RAM, WinXP SP3 Phone: ZenFone 2 ZE550ML |

RE: DX 12 and OpenGL Vulkan
On mobile vulkan requires atleast a GPU capable of OpenGL ES 3.1 which not many device have it at the moment
anyway, vulkan (or dx12) is probably only give performance boost on multi-core rendering, not sure whether it will give much improvement on PSP emulation My Modified PPSSPP : ============== Win32&64: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2t3mtdhb0f045cn/PPSSPP_1.11-testbuild_Win32x64.zip?dl=0 Android(ARMv7): https://www.dropbox.com/s/b41bm43mtn1gpnn/PPSSPP_1.11-testbuild_ARMv7.apk?dl=0 |

RE: DX 12 and OpenGL Vulkan
Most PC users won't notice a great difference on PPSSPP with Vulkan or DirectX 12 since it has at least a Core 2 Duo or Pentium Dual-Core running, and a decent video card. The biggest improvment will be on Android, since the most popular phones aren't capable of running PPSSPP at full speed. Vulkan will be great for future emulators (PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One...) and for PCSX2 which requires too much hardware.

RE: DX 12 and OpenGL Vulkan
Sure they will. Nobody wants to stay on 1080p looking at jaggies all the time. It will benefit higher rezzes greatly. And VR 3D performance.

RE: DX 12 and OpenGL Vulkan
Sice you have a good graphic card you can play games in 1080p just fine with current PPSSPP version. My GTX 650 is a little outdated but I can even play Midnight Club 3 with 60 FPS 1080p and filters, this game has one of the heavest graphics for PSP. But Henrik already said the emulation of PSP's GPU still needs some work.

RE: DX 12 and OpenGL Vulkan
may I ask if I have a nVidia GTX6800, will I able to enable 3D Vision in Vulkan mode? ('cause I replayed a lot of big titles by PPSSPP because of the 3D support that I will never able to enjoy on the original PSP)
