Seems pretty good (although I personally don;t want a phone larger than 5".) PPSSPP and PowerVR aren't always the best of friends, but I think such a new PowerVR GPU might do just fine anyway (hopefully.)

My Huawei Ascend P1 also has a PowerVR GPU and it performs decently. So this should be a direct upgrade for me. However, I'm using an older version of the driver; I know the newer versions like (1.9@2166536) perform badly.

(There might have been other reasons too, but we are talking a drop of 10-15fps using the same configuration)

Are there any GPUs that are known to work well with PPSPP? I can never find a device with the perfect combo.

I was hoping PPSSPP would benefit from a 64bit CPU, is that not the case? Since there are more people with ARM CPUs, does the ARM version run better?

RE: Anyone else excited by the ZenPhone 2?
Well, as far as Intel, it should run better on x64, but it won't be a major difference really. The most important thing is the driver for the GPU. So if there are better x64 GPU drivers, then it will definitely be better.

For ARM vs Intel, I don't have a good apples-to-apples comparison (e.g. two devices with the same GPU), so I can only guess. PPSSPP *should* like Intel a bit better... but again, the GPU driver being better on either one will make that the better one though, almost for sure.

I've heard some people say Adrenos / Snapdragons have weird performance problems with PPSSPP, but it's the only chip I've ever used and I get what I consider to be great performance on my Nexus 5. I suppose that newer Mali chips should also work well (older ones circa Mali-400 have register allocation problems with our shaders and have to kick back to slow mode.)

A Tegra K1/X1 would most likely give the very best performance (but no phones have K1, and not sure if there will be phones with X1.) Unfortunately older Tegras (like Tegra 3) have weird glitches / driver bugs / something that can cause weird artifacts in some games.

But, the moral of the story is still that drivers are most important.

I wanted this, but I think I'll get a tegra based device because of the GPU side of things.

Did not realize they made tegra phones.

The phone is finally out, and the flagship version is going for around 400$ after imports and tax.

Chinese benchmarks seem to indicate that it's faster than Snapdragon 801.

But PowerVR...

How bad is it?

My current Antutu Score is:17243 , this device gets 50401.

Goal is to play most PSP games at full speed. 2x Resolution min.
Currently planing Final Fantasy Agito with all speedhacks on. Not a pleasant experience.

RE: Anyone else excited by the ZenPhone 2?
For now, I don't want a x86 based phone, the most android applications aren't fully compatible with it, for example, the PPSSPP, many people with Zenfone are reporting problems with the emulator. I prefer to wait some years...

Phones: Poco F3 8GB/256GB (Snapdragon 870 5G) and Redmi Note 6 Pro 4/64GB (Snapdragon 636)

PC: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 / 16GB RAM DDR4 3600MHz / NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti 6GB / Windows 10 Pro
