Dolphin drops 32-bit support
Source: https://dolphin-emu.org/blog/2014/05/19/obituary-32bit/
What do you guys think? Do any of you still use 32-bit OSes? Should the PPSSPP team do the same in order to concentrate more efforts on other stuff like better Ad-Hock support?... just saying. |

Galaxy note 3 has quad-core 2.3ghz and can only run some games almost fullspeed so.. i thing you should wait for iPhone6 because iphone5 is not capable of running games at decent speeds Edit: About the 32bit support, i thing if the 32bit version is stable enough and most people use 64bit why not? |

RE: Donlphin drops 32-bit support
Most of the valid points in that article does not resemble ppsspp situation at all.
First of all ppsspp is very light emulator that runs well on nearly any pc doesn't matter how ancient or weak it is as long as it has OGL 2.0 support, doesn't matter if most popular 32 bit OS is not officially supported when it's probably still the most popular in the world as shows in any statistics including China - and we do know for a fact that ppsspp is very popular there even if it doesn't show much on our forums here. Also the performance difference between 64 and 32 bit versions of ppsspp at least on windows are commonly unmeasurable, depending more on drivers quality than any major coding difference in the emulator itself. Maybe by matter of luck more than anything else, but also a few of games are actually known to work only in 32 bit on windows platform so it's usefull also for 64 bit users. So while eventually it might happen, we shouldn't force any change and continue 32 bit support as long as the Visual Studio does. It doesn't seem to be a hassle like with dolphin anyway and at this point it certainly doesn't limit or slow down ppsspp developement, if anything I would even say it currently helps by avoiding userbase fragmentation over some unofficial releases. http://forums.ppsspp.org/showthread.php?tid=6594 - Custom PPSSPP Shaders! http://forums.ppsspp.org/showthread.php?tid=3590&pid=117172#pid117172 - simple CE scripts to help creating CWCheats, https://github.com/LunaMoo/PPSSPP_workarounds - CWCheat workarounds. |

RE: Donlphin drops 32-bit support
In dolphin its fine that they drop x86 support, the emulator is much faster in x64. (also theres a typo in thread title "donlphin" instead of Dolphin )
PC Specs: Intel Pentium Dual-Core E6700 3.2 Ghz 4gb ddr3 ram Geforce GTS 450 1 GB DDR3 Windows 7 x64 |
