Unresponsive black screen

Hello - I have recently downloaded PPSSPP v1.17.1 to my android (v14). All the folders are set up and the game can locate the .iso's. However, clicking on any leads to a black screen - no buttons are showing and I need to force close PPSSPP to try again.

I have tried multiple options as others have suggested (backend rendering, fast memory, etc), uninstalling / reinstalling, using multiple .iso's from different sources...nothing. Just a black screen, no buttons, and a forced restart of the app.

Please advise!
