will there be a way to make rapid-fire faster

I'm stuck on a game called metal gear solid:peace walker in a scene where I have to quickly tap a button. Rapid fire mode (holding down shift) isn't fast enough and this is required to progress in the game. Is there a way to make rapid fire faster?
