Lag on explosions and smoke.
Hello. First off I would just like to say how great of an emulator PPSSPP is. Anyways, on to my question. When playing Star Wars Battlefront 2 on my laptop, the emulator slows way down when their are explosions and heavy smoke. It's not too big of a deal, but it does hinder gameplay a bit when the emu slows down to like 40 to 60%. Could it be lagging because my PC isn't fast enough, or could it just be the emulator? Besides turning frameskipping on, is there a way too prevent lag in heavy action?

RE: Lag on explosions and smoke.
Slowdowns when drawing smoke usually means that you are fillrate limited. Try to decrease the rendering resolution to 1x or 2x, will look blurrier but should help with the smoke slowdowns. Also make sure you are not forcing super-sample antialiasing on in your graphics card settings or something like that. Also, you can try turning off texture scaling if you are using that.

So what exactly is ''fillrate limited"? And does it have to do with my hardware or the emulator? BTW here are my PC specs: Don't know if this is enough information Intel Core i3-4005U CPU @ 1.70ghz, 1701 Mhz 2 cores, 4 logical processors. OS is Windows 8. My PPSSPP version is 0.9.9 |

I tried doing what Henrik said besides lowering resolution and it is a little bit better but still lags.(11-16-2014 06:11 PM)joey base Wrote:He's probably saying that your Graphics processor is lacking power when using graphical enhancements in PPSSPP.(11-16-2014 04:06 PM)Henrik Wrote: Slowdowns when drawing smoke usually means that you are fillrate limited.
