Limit 60fps games to 30fps
Hi there,
I am new to the board and couldn't find any specific post about that. I am running PPSSPP on the SHIELD TABLET. I'd like to make 60fps games run at 30fps, it somehow worked intetionally with Colin McRae Rally but I don't know how it happened. It now just works for this particular game and only if I load my savestate. Any suggesion would be highly appreciated! Thanks |

RE: Limit 60fps games to 30fps
You can try to limit CPU speed in settings, however this is not fancy way and may be tricky for some games. I am joining to request also. We need some universal trigger if it's exist.

RE: Limit 60fps games to 30fps
Frameskip 1, Auto Frameskip off :/
60 down to 30 30 down to 15 Halves the FPS on 60/30 FPS games but still 100% running (depends on device if it can run games at lock 60/30 FPS) Chill and Go with the flow ~d[o_o]b~ @YT - youtube.com/user/SuperHack333/videos Specs: MDL: Dell G7 15 7590 (Laptop) OPS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit CPU: Intel Core i7-9750h @ 2.60 Ghz ~ 4.50 Ghz GPU: Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti 6GB GDDR6 @ 1455 Mhz ~ 1590 Mhz RAM: Micron Tech. 8GB DDR4 @ 2666 Mhz (4x2) |

RE: Limit 60fps games to 30fps
Thanks für that suggestion, but that means that it SKIPS 1 frame, ... but I want the game to run at "fullspeed" 30fps. Do you know what I mean?

RE: Limit 60fps games to 30fps
If a game runs natively at 60 fps, and you set frameskip to 1, you will end up with it running at 30 fps but at the correct speed, which is what you are asking for.

RE: Limit 60fps games to 30fps
Hi,
well I guess I don't know how this FPS thing works exactly. But as I understand, there are certain games that run natively @ 60fps AND 30fps depending on the original PSPs hardware, correct me if I'm wrong. My goal is to make games like ColinMcRae Rally run smoothly at 100%@30fps instead of 60%@60fps. |

RE: Limit 60fps games to 30fps
Frameskip 1 halves the maximum FPS a certain game can attain but the emulation is still 100%
60 FPS / with Frameskip 1 30 FPS and still run at 100% 30 FPS / with Frameskip 1 15 FPS and still run at 100% Chill and Go with the flow ~d[o_o]b~ @YT - youtube.com/user/SuperHack333/videos Specs: MDL: Dell G7 15 7590 (Laptop) OPS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit CPU: Intel Core i7-9750h @ 2.60 Ghz ~ 4.50 Ghz GPU: Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti 6GB GDDR6 @ 1455 Mhz ~ 1590 Mhz RAM: Micron Tech. 8GB DDR4 @ 2666 Mhz (4x2) |

Edit ppsspp.ini - ForceMaxEmulatedFPS = 30 but don't enter settings in PPSSPP menu otherwise it will reset to 60, you can also decrease psp cpu clock (as was mentioned above) to 30-50-70 resulting in lowering the emulated FPS by the psp cpu Samsung Captivate, Android 2.3.5 SAUROM, Corn Kernel v701 Fly Evo Chic 3, Android 4.4.2 Stock, improved stock kernel |

(09-10-2014 01:31 PM)Rotkaeqpchen Wrote: Hi, The explanation people gave above is as simple as it gets - if a game runs at 60 fps and it gets cut down to 30 fps, it has to either a.) skip rendering half of them (in order to maintain 100% speed) or b.) slow down the timing to 50% speed (to ensure that only 30 frames are rendered in a second), which results in slow motion. This is what setting ForceMaxEmulatedFPS to 30 will get you. Slow motion gameplay. There are games on the PSP that can run at 60FPS and 30FPS depending on the what the CPU speed is set to. But the game has to be coded that way. Only game I remember that does that is Gran Turismo Portable. Besides, what the game does is basically the same as turning on frameskip. And besides frameskip 1 will make the game a bit jerkier (not so smooth as it was, as every second frame is skipped) I wish this option force max emulated fps was in the settings for convenience Samsung Captivate, Android 2.3.5 SAUROM, Corn Kernel v701 Fly Evo Chic 3, Android 4.4.2 Stock, improved stock kernel |
