Wired X360 pad and left analog dead zones?
Hi folks,
I'm actually really impressed with PPSSPP, and thanks to it, my interest in PSP titles has skyrocketed. (I just can't see myself sitting hunched over a portable for any real length of time...) But I'm having an issue with the left analog stick finding frequent dead zones. It's kind of hard to explain, but I'll try to illustrate using Ys Seven as an example. If I'm just wandering around in the Altago docks right where the game starts, using the left analog stick for navigation, there will be times when the stick is fully extended and Adol will just stop moving. If I tilt the stick further in a slightly different direction, then move it back, he'll usually start moving in that direction again. Other times, he'll move haltingly, as if he was only receiving sporadic input from the analog stick. I've observed similar behavior in The Third Birthday. I've tried both the 32 and 64 bit versions of the emulator, in 0.9.7 and 0.9.8 flavors. My computer is an i5-3570K sporting a GTX 750 Ti and 8GB of RAM, so specs shouldn't be a problem. The right analog stick works fine. And in fact, the only reason I'm using a 360 pad to test this is because I was first using a DualShock 3 via an XInput wrapper, and I was experiencing the same issue but thought it might be bluetooth lag or something, so I switched as a diagnostic and just haven't gotten around to switching back. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on here? Is it a configuration issue, something wrong with my DirectX, or something in the PPSSPP code somewhere? This is really badly distracting and makes a bunch of otherwise flawlessly emulated games basically unplayable. |

i dont have any idea why u have that problem but i could provide u with a solution

Hey, I know this is topic is nearly two months old at this point and I apologize for bumping it, but I have further information relevant to this subject. It seems that when more than one potential input is assigned to a button, the last input in the list takes precedence over all the others, which can have potentially substantial lag and/or stickiness to them. Removing everything but the 360 left analog inputs for the PSP's analog stick fixed my issue; I removed all the other extra inputs for each button as well to eliminate other potential problems before they happened. That said, when I added right analog to map to dpad (for right-analog camera controls in 3rd Birthday), my 360 controller's dpad (first on the list of inputs) became almost completely unresponsive.

Not using antimicro, no. This is running on an HTPC with XBMC as a front-end. I'm trying to minimize the number of custom scripts it needs, and I've already got joy2key running in the background intercepting an R3+L3 combo for alt-f4ing other emulators.
This isn't a gamebreaker by any means, mind! I'm still super happy with ppsspp for a variety of reasons, and the number of games that use the dpad for camera controls can probably counted on one hand. Other than potentially mapping the dpad to the right analog stick I have no real need for a secondary control scheme, and I spent more time with Crisis Core yesterday alone than I ever had in the years I've owned it for the actual system. |
