save state question
As this is the most accommodating emu forum I've been. I'm going to ask another question. This feature of emulating is what I've been curious about since GBA emulation. The "Save State." It's a curious way to save coz it saves the game in a weird but good way that I can't wrap my mind at. It saves the button you are pressing at the moment and the cheats that you have turned on so even if you turned it off the effect would still be there. So how does save state works ?

Athlon x4 635 @3.5
660 OC 2GB
4GB DDR3 @7-7-7-20
Gamers cannot gain anything without first giving something in return, to obtain something of equal value must be lost that is gaming world's first law of equivalent exchange. In those days, I really believed that would be the world's one and only truth.

RE: save state question
A bit more goes into a savestate than just a copy of RAM like Wikipedia says. You'd also store the emulated CPU state(registers, program counter/instruction pointer, etc.) and the input state; basically the status of the entire console itself. Everything the emulator does is stored somewhere in memory, so it's just a matter of writing it out to a file, and then loading from it at a later point once the user directs the program to do so. Of course, that doesn't include extra things like different versions of save states/emulators, etc.. For that you'd likely write a header to the save state followed by the raw state data.

RE: save state question
I'm not sure if this has been asked - But is there a way where people can upload and download save states for different games .or if there maybe plans to implement this type of feature on the ppsspp website.or is it maybe not worth it.( i just ask as some games dont pass the menu /intro - but save states bypass some of the problem ie :lemmings)
