Monster Hunter Freedom Unite : Cannot name Character

Now I've become rather desperate
I installed the newest build of PPSSPP, got myself the iso to the game, started it up, everything normal so far.
Now i go into the character creation, make my character to my liking, and then i am told to name my character.... now here is the catch : where on the normal psp a keyboard would pop up to name the character.
Here, nothing happens in PPSSPP.
I can't type the name via keyboard, no koeyboard pop-up, nothing. i am stuck and can't do anything. Please help me people!
