Intel Atom Z2580 Performance? - jamuk - 01-03-2014 08:32 PM

Hi all,

I was hoping you could help me pick the perfect budget phone for PPSSP and other emulators such as Reicast! Currently I'm using a MTK589/Mali 400 phone which doesn't quite cut it.

I've got a small budget (with microsd slot) and I can only afford around £140/$230. So far the best I've found is the ZTE Geek - Intel Atom Z2580 - Power VR 544 MP2.

Do you think this would run PPSSPP well? It seems from reading on the forums here that Mali GPUS are actually the best performers though??

Thanks in advance

Mind that ZTE Geek is an Android x86 device and it couldn't be more far from ideal for PPSSPP.

Galaxy Note III or Galaxy Note 10.1
is probably the best atm.

Hm, I tried PPSSPP on a borrowed x86 Android phone a while back and it ran faster than on any of my ARM devices. I think there are good chances it will run OK.

Weird, I have it on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 and it runs worse than on my HTC EVO 3D. What could be going wrong?

Hm, okay. Maybe they aren't all fast. See if you can try it on a device before buying it.

Thanks for comments all.

I'm suprised at the comment about it being far from ideal as I thought fast dual core was the ideal setup (vs slower multi cores)

Is the gpu just not great? I've found that there are Exynos 4412 devices available around $165 so I'm thinking that might be the way to go as it sounds like mali is the best gpu for emulation right now - is that right?
