The 2DS will be available in North America for $129.99 on October 12th (the same day as Pokemon X and Y)

The 2DS will be available in UK/Europe (estimated £109.99) and Australia/NZ (AUD$149.95/NZD$179.95) on October 12th also.

The 2DS is fully compatible with all 3DS and DS games but does not include the ability to display games in 3D.

for hacker it's like a place for gold mine,since it can play 3ds games,i'm really sure hacker will try to exploit the console.

It's great for people who don't already have a 3DS and don't care about playing games in 3D. Plus it's $50 cheaper.

It's alright I guess, it reminds me of this 10 years ago
that thing was solid as rock no matter how many times I dropped it,

so I guess the goal here was to make it similiar and not to open and close dualscreen
otherwise it could snap and it is after all intended for kids, but hey I would buy it for that little price,
and I wonder if it will lessen the difficulty for an exploit to become available. Smile

My frnd had one of those GBAs.he locked it up in a cold storage after he bought the PSP.sad..........they werent that bad,were they?

I hate how people are hating that console just because it is cheap and "looks crappy".
Point 1: IT IS FOR KIDS. The shape is to avoid it breaking (not foldable) and doesn't get damaged from falls because of the shape. there are edges but its harder to damage them (especially the curved ones).
POINT 2: it 99% sure is comfortable because the shape fits in our hands, imagine holding an ice cream, the feel will be the same, it will feel more comfortable and you can have longer play sessions (kidskidskids)
POINT 3: I have a GBA (indigo) AND a GBC (with pokemon gold, still boxed). SUCK IT Tongue

I don't like it, it doesn't make sense to me. They should have spent their time on developing a new generation und not return to an old design (compatible with normal NDS games.....wow).

Maybe one day they could make a high end portable console (which will still allow those nasty childish graphics like those from NDS and 3DS, but also higher graphics).

Nevertheless, I can't see a bright future for handhelds. Those smartphones and tablets have killed them. Nvidia has created a graphics chip for smartphones and tablets which allows PS3 like graphics on mobile devices. But it won't be released the next couple of years.
