I'm using a PSX-Controller via usb-adapter and the emulator even recognizes the input in the control configuration, but ingame, only the buttons respond. The arrow-keys and on-screen controls are also not working.

Have you tried mapping something to the analog stick(e.g. map the stick on your controller to the stick in PPSSPP) and trying to move with that?
