4.3 ROM for Galaxy S2
Hey guys, I want to a 4.3 ROM for my Galaxy S2. I am almost sure to it will not be released officialy for my phone. Then the only one way is a custom ROM. But install a custom ROM is a serious thing, so, I want to your help to install. I just want to a secure ROM and without issues, or minor issues. I also want to know what are the requeriments to install.

Now I am using the Android 4.0.4 Official and official kernel. I rooted by Recovery Mode (Up+Power+Home). I will need install a 4.1 ROM first? I need install a Custom kernel?

Well, I saw that the 4.3 has better APIs (I think is it the names for GPU drivers) than previous versions. Better power consumition, and somethings else. If you installed or have a friend that did it, please, reply. Thanks in advance. Smile

Phones: Poco F3 8GB/256GB (Snapdragon 870 5G) and Redmi Note 6 Pro 4/64GB (Snapdragon 636)

PC: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 / 16GB RAM DDR4 3600MHz / NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti 6GB / Windows 10 Pro

RE: 4.3 ROM for Galaxy S2
Touchwiz or not? I guess you'd have to wait a bit for 4.3 based Touchwiz ones for the official updates to roll out so other people can base their work on them. If I were you I'd find a stock based 4.1 ROM and update it for the time being (it's actualy the stock 4.1 ROM [the official update] rooted and maybe even able for overclocking [might need a costum kernel]). There's not realy a noticable difference with the newer APIs in 4.2.x and 4.3.x if you ask me especialy in Touchwiz based devices that the updated apps are not used either way. For the moment I'd install CWM on my phone as a start, one you do that and you do backup of your current ROM you ran little to no trouble having issues with your phone.

Hm, I think I will wait a bit more for 4.3. But what you guys say abut the 4.1.2 official? The API is better than 4.0.4? And the power consumition?

RE: 4.3 ROM for Galaxy S2
As I told you, it's alot more stable and fluid and everything else in general is the same (power consumption etc), I'd go with 4.1 since it's stock based that means that most of the times it will have zero bugs too. If you don't care about Touchwiz, there is AOSP/CM 10.2 (4.3) on Galaxy S2 though and CM10.2 actualy has official nightly builds (official means that they are from CM devs themselfs which is a good thing) which are super stable. If you want Touchwiz go with official/official based 4.1, trust me you are missing nothing from 4.2.x+ and there's generaly a nice performance bump from 4.0.x.

RE: 4.3 ROM for Galaxy S2
What do you guys think about the Siyah kernel? I'm thinking about a custom kernel. Can I maintain my files and ROM if I install a custom kernel? I'll still be recognized by kies? Thanks. Smile

RE: 4.3 ROM for Galaxy S2
I don't want to change the ROM, at this time, I just want to install a custom kernel, and the Siyah looks be the most used. I want to know if I'll get more performance, and how much I can overclock the CPU and GPU.

RE: 4.3 ROM for Galaxy S2
I just tried CM11 (4.4) on my phone and tablet and I have to say that it's unexpectedly alot better than Jellybean stuff. There was a noticable performance boost to the point that I wanted to recommend it to anybody here that wants to give a new life to their device, atleast backup your current ROM and give it a try and return if you don't like it. I really didn't expect such an improvement from 4.1/4.2/4.3 to 4.4, Google surprised me on that and I'm pretty positive it's device universal that -improvement- feeling.

RE: 4.3 ROM for Galaxy S2
I got a question, I hope anyone can reply quickly: I updated my firmware by kies to a most recent build, but the root that I made was deleted. My old fimware was "XXLS8", and now I updated to "UHMS1" that I think exist only in Brazil. I don't found any way to root by Recovery Mode (as I made before) for this firmware, I just found for "UHMS8", and I don't know if is compatible. I did root using the "PhilZ" based in stock kernel. My real doubt is: can I install the last version of Siyha kernel in any JB firmware? As I read, this kernel was made for only Samsung JB ROM (the last update v6). Please help, I'm going to wait a quick reply still today, if anyone can help me.

RE: 4.3 ROM for Galaxy S2
Why don't you use something like CWM Recovery? Kies can get tricky and complicated if you mess up something.
