Laptop question
This is what I've been planning on getting, my budget is €600
I'll be a student in a week or so, gaming is not my priority and even if I do,
it would probably be for a short while on medium, I don't see major differences in high/ultra
besides draining battery or worse cpu/gpu overheating, it isn't uncommon for a laptop to overheat,
but if you take care of it, clean the fans at least once per 2-3 weeks it should be fine, anyway here are the specs:

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E431

OS: Windows 7 32-bit
Display: WLED HD Anti-glare, 14" / 1366x768
CPU: Intel® Core™ i3 3120M, 2.5 GHz, FSB 1600 Mhz 4 GB RAM
HDD: 500 GB 5400rpm SATA
GPU: NVIDIA®GeForce GT 740M 2GB
Battery: 6-cell (Li-Ion), 48 Wh
Cost: €510

What are your thoughts? Smile

I think i3's a bit underwhelming for your *hardcore* gaming needs, but the rest are pretty much okay. Nevertheless, this thing should works since it has above average frequency (simply overclock if you think you need extra power). Overall it's a-okay and should able to run whatever game that came out 2007 onwards.

AFAIK Lenovo Z480 (?) was one of my 'biggest bang for the buck' high-tier laptop; (from my last observation, that's around half year ago) with ~$800 (sorry, can't remember exactly but it's obviously above $600, sorry <_<) you get this spec:
-Intel i7 processor, can't remember the exact frequency (about 2.30-2.50 GHz?)
-4GB RAM (or 8? can't remember)
-GeForce GT 7xx (can't remember the details too, GT 740 maybe?)
-1TB HDD (f*#$ yea)

RE: Laptop question
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, but I will not be gaming for any hardcore needs, even when I can
I rather keep the laptop in shape by not playing at full capacity as I stated I do not see much difference in high/ultra settings,
so I guess this should be alright, i7 is way more than my i3 indeed, but for 500eu seems ok I think,
I believe lenovo are well known for their thinkpads (was going for ideapad originally, but not anymore)
oh yeah, I was also looking at ASUS, but decided this instead, they are a bit more money for even better, but I need something soon rather later. Smile

i7 3612QM, 2.1 GHz with intel turbo boost (can't remember exactly, maybe up to 3.0 GHz), GT 640M, 8GB of RAM (4GB by default), and 1TB HDD, i'm happy with my laptop, heh Tongue

That GT 740M is really nice Smile

● If you report (or happen to find any) game/mini/demo that's still not on the compatibility list yet even after 48 hours, you can PM me the link!

RE: Laptop question
I owned a Dell latitude for 5 years so I can at least tell you that they last long enough.I really don't think someone can think in your place, for example I got a Sony Vaio ultrabook with only 2 USB ports(1x2.0,1x3.0) and no CD/DVD writer. This would be unconceivable for other people but I got a bluetooth mouse and I wanted a laptop as light as possible so I didn't mind losing some features Smile
