Rate your ISP
ISP=Internet Service Provider

I think it would be interesting to see what internet speeds we get in different countries and how much we pay for that.Your answer should be like this:

1.ping
2.download speed
3.upload speed
4.customer satisfaction
5.price paid

I recommend using http://www.speedtest.net/ and just sharing the result hereBig Grin then go to a online currency converter and convert your local currency to euro/dollars.

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/2929428322
satisfied customer
8.70EUR(I also receive a gsm usb module and free access to carrier blocked wifi hotspots)

RE: Rate your ISP
Whoa, wish my ISP is that fast, but sadly it can only happen in my dream, heh Smile
Here's my result:
http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/2963896302
I paid about 5 USD for 1 month with that speed Sleepy
When i reach 2GB usage, they will lower the speed to something like 128Kbps, meh Dodgy

Edit: it's actually a mobile broadband, and i'm quiet happy with it as for now, it's more than enough for my university need Big Grin

What kind of connection is that anyway? Looks like mobile 3g speed, and the 2GB cap is usually applied to internet usb modems

it's LAN speed...
my ISP just have a crazy idea which build the whole Hong Kong network into a very large LAN....

since it's centralized by fiber.... the in house wire can just reach the top speed of normal CAT-5 LAN cable.. (100M)

most ISP in Hong Kong also provide 1000M speed, but i don't think it have much different compare with 100M in daily normal use...

RE: Rate your ISP
Here's my connection.

http://www.speedtest.net/result/2971879710.png

So it's pretty decent. But it's expensive. I'm currently paying £30 a month for it, but I want to have it downgraded so that it becomes £25, on a student budget that £5 makes a difference.

Price is jacked up more because I don't have a phone line installed. Virgin Media is the only provider in the UK that doesn't require one.

I forget the technological reasons why, but generally upstream is always lesser than the downstream.
