SONY has unveiled a new version of its PS Vita handheld gaming console.

Revealed at the Tokyo Game Show, Sony said the PCH 2000 series consoles were aimed at casual gamers.

The gadget is 20% thinner and 15% lighter than earlier models, is available in six different colours and has a battery life of about six hours.

The device goes on sale on 10 October in Japan. Sony has given no date for when it will be available in other countries.

The PS Vita 2000 has 1GB of memory and will be able to use the bigger 64GB memory cards Sony is making for it. All versions of the revamped gadget will communicate via wi-fi only.

The launch comes soon after Sony cut the US and European price of the original PS Vita in a bid to boost sales. The price of the handheld was cut in Japan in February. Sales of handheld games consoles have slumped as people play more and more games on their smartphones.

In addition, Sony also showed off a tiny set-top box called the PS Vita TV. The device can connect to a television so owners can play their Vita games on a bigger screen. It can also be used to stream games being played on a PlayStation 4 console to another TV.

The Vita TV console can also pipe streamed media services such as Hulu to a display.

Yep, Razorback reported in another post.
Allthough that was offtopic in an off topic post.

Bottom line, Sony are hangin on for dear life.
The fact that the new vita has built in memory to boost sales and revive the vita begs the question...
Why not do that in the first place??
Dumb as FCK on Sony's part...

"PSP Vita" (?)
Anyway, it won't do anything to save the PSVita from it's failure.

Because they're nothing but dumb@$$ corporatefags as we all know it.

It's only a matter of time until the stupid mobileshit gamefag and THE GLORIOUS PC GAMING MASTER RACE™ bring the end of console/portable gaming though.

RE: SONY unveil New PSP Vita
@VIRGIN KLM, I was referin to the newly announced rip off, bull sh*t, knock off Sony gadget.. what is supposed to boost vita sales.
why not just half the vita price and sell a bunch more?? instead of pumpin more money into another vita what is basically the same? anyway....

Although, I do like the vita TV gadget.. dependin on how its marketed price etc that may well do better than PS vita handheld..( maybe)

@ razorback.. arnt you a fan of mobile gamin?
PC gamin rules..
Although I do like the portability of a mobile phone and its many uses.

RE: SONY unveil New PSP Vita
Vita TV is just a one day flop because of being a bad idea. Where's the touchscreen? Where's the rear touch sensitive panel? Where's the mic? Where's the front facing camera? They do realise that all games take advantage of the touchscreen and alot of the rest features I mentioned and this thing is incompatible with it? In what way could they fix that?

I can predict they'll end like the exact reverse of Nintendo's situation; their 3DS may could literally conquer everything on portable platform but their home console side is completely FUBAR without any hope of survival, while PS4 might able to see slightly better prospect (as long as those retards at Sony don't pull anything ridiculous, which I doubt they would be THAT sane) their portable side's pretty much done for just like the nation itself, in the nutshell I'm afraid.

Yeah but how many will recieve them? Like maximum 15, if that? That's not a back catalog at all. I doubt devs will even bother to support it even if it's mandatory by Sony they'll just skip the platform. This is going nowhere...

RE: SONY unveil New PSP Vita
I think they said that you can already play ~100~ Vita games on Vita TV and Dualshock 4 support will/probably come and since DS4 has that fancy touchpad it will widen the support.

Btw, what up with the Sony hate/bitterness in these forums ? Im not too active here so I wouldnt know...

Some people will just never forgive them for that $599 shenanigans and whatever incidents that happened along PS3's lifetime plus Sony's own incompetence at dealing such problems and PSVita. Don't ask me why.
