Save states no longer work in newer builds?

For me,the purpose of save states is to save between save points and to create a save state to a place I like so if I want to replay some part of the game without the need to load normal save,go to the location I want and wait all cut scenes to end,I just create a save state.

For example:
P3P - I like playing the last boss(I really like that voice...english)so I just create a save state(otherwise I can't directly play the battle)
