Once you get to the Intro Video, mash the heck out of the Start Button. It'll skip the video and take you to the menu.
If you take too long, I believe it crashes.

now the intro video can be play and no crashes using latest build v0.7.6-1139 (windows). but bgm seems have been cut off after finished the mission in receiving item menu.

It seems that after finishing giants the second level, after showing the loot, it loads and gets stuck

Patapon 3 now crashes at the point in which the BGM would usually just stop working on the windows version. I've attached a log but I don't no if it caught the part that would have been recorded when "This application has stopped working" shows up.

Here are the results I have received for different 32-bit Windows builds.

Build 840 - Gameplay works great, but no video and no music.
Build 1040 - Broken. Breaks after accepting conditions before playing the intro video.
Build 1075 - Broken. Breaks after accepting conditions before playing the intro video.
Build 1082 - Broken. Breaks after accepting conditions before playing the intro video.
Build 1088 - Broken. Breaks after accepting conditions before playing the intro video.
Build 1125 - Gameplay and music both work. Video does not work. This is the best build to play on currently.
Build 1226 - Video and music plays but it locks up before loading the character select.
Build 1249 - Video and music plays but it locks up before loading the character select.

Build 1249 can load a save from build 1125 that has been made once inside the game, and play with that as well. I have not played extremely far yet so I am not sure if there are future videos or dialogs that will cause another lockup.

Hopefully this information is useful for someone.

As of the latest version build 1323, all of the issues I listed in my post above have been addressed.
The user can now launch the app and play the game without doing anything special at all.
All videos and audio work and latency with button presses appear to be gone.

There are only two issues left that I notice.

The first is VERY minor.
When the video plays on the main menu it has tearing and pixelation for around 2 seconds and then clears up. The same place every time.

The second is a larger problem visually, and quite distracting but does not directly affect gameplay in a negative way. When the player equips a summon, the fever meter can charge up. The fever indicator should graphically indicate this, but instead of just the fever meter changing, an entire huge block of color increases in size across the screen instead.

I am not sure if there is an actual bug reporting forum, or if it should be posted in the individual games like this. Smile

Well, #1 is being worked on now. For me, https://github.com/hrydgard/ppsspp/issues/2256 fixes it, but still trying to work out the compatibility

For the second one hmm. I'm not sure, but do you have buffered rendering on?

Game runs great on my k touch lotus ii, some fps drops but i will wait for a kernel patch for my phone and try to overclock it and will see again, no problem at the beginning of the game, music is smooth and sound is great. Awesome job devs!

I'm using the emulator on Win8 64bit and I've got a different kind of problem here... As you all know the game requires perfect timing for the 'drum beats' but mine responds a little slower...less than a second slow but that's enough to mess up the 'fever' mode... The video and audio errors will be fixed in version 0.8 (hoping so...)
And yeah I'm pretty much a noob at this so...any help? Huh

If you're using the 64 bit version, try switching to the 32 bit one. Download the latest ppsspp and leave all settings by default.
For the drum beats, my solution is to turn off the music (or the sound all together). Time your beats with the flashing rectangle.

Using the 32bit version with the decoder solved the BGM and the video errors beautifully but it's simply too difficult to time the beats with the rectangle without sound...I guess I am addicted to playing it with the sound on my PSP (which now rests in peace somewhere...Angel)... Anyways, thanks for the help bxtduy Big Grin...
