RE: Some strange problems with ram usage
what version driver are you using, I just remembered there was a memory leak that affected the OpenGL client driver when using a multicore cpu a long while back.

RE: Some strange problems with ram usage
My CPU is single core and I'm using really old drivers 84.21(I have problems with newer drivers but with those everything work fine)

With newer drivers almost every time I right click on the desktop, the screen goes black for few seconds(the same thing happens if I try to open the new control panel(which is not new from long time ago)).
I searched google for a reason why I get those problems with the newer drivers,I found other people with those problems but I didn't find a solution so I revert to 84.21 where everything works fine

RE: Some strange problems with ram usage
you have hyperthreading, which is as for all intents and purposes exposed to the operating system as 2 cores.

RE: Some strange problems with ram usage
If I actually have this problem with OpenGL,will setting the emu to use only one of the cores make any difference or if I disable HT from the bios?

don't forget if you disable hyperthreading (HT) you will lose perfemance and you will notice slowdown

on pc games and even emulators

RE: Some strange problems with ram usage
I know
Edit:Rather than waiting for an answer,I disabled HT and tried the emu but it was the same...high ram usage on some games if the option is enabled

RE: Some strange problems with ram usage
Just to confirm - can you list a few (like 5?) games that have this problem? I just want to confirm it's only affecting you. Unless we have a major bug, it should not be that we would ever allocate > 1 GB of user memory. I've also never seen it using that much VRAM either without the scaling options enabled.

If you're willing to try more things, I would suggest booting into safe mode. This should ensure there is nothing external interfering with the process. I'm not sure if it will even run in safe mode to be honest, but if it does (hopefully), and still has the same behavior, then it's most likely a flaw in PPSSPP somewhere.

If it runs and does not, then it's most likely some service or process running on your computer. In that case, I'd recommend rebooting, and killing a bunch of processes and services in the Task Manager, and then trying again. If safe mode doesn't even work, this is also an option, but it can be a pain.

5 games:

God Of War Ghost Of Sparta - HT enabled and after the first 3 logos or when you can control Kratos then enable HT

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep - HT enabled...start a new game and skip the cut scenes. You'll reach a cut scene where the screen goes while(not because of the emulator)and there the emulator will load for 1-2 seconds and then freeze(I can see how the ram usage goes higher and higher).
Also if I disable HT and skip all cut scenes, when I can finally control Roxas,if I try enabling HT,the moment I do than,it will start eating ram to no end.

Crisis Core - If HT is enabled, between every time there is loading involved(talking, cut scenes, before starting a battle and so on),the emu freeze for couple of seconds 5-20 and then continues. If HT is disabled,it load fast on those places
On a new game after the first mission, after the point the game allow you to save,if HT is enabled,it takes 20 seconds to load the cut scene and if it's disabled 2 seconds.
When I load the memory card save(before the cut scene),after I wait for 20 seconds, progress with the game and when the next cut scene start(before I even see it),it will start eating ram.

DBZ Tenkaichi Tag Team Demo - To make it easier, disable HT and start a battle. When you can control the character, enable HT(it will freeze and few seconds after that,it will start eating ram)

Naruto Shippuden Kizuna Drive Demo - the same as DBZ...disable HT and just press X until you can control the character, then enable HT.

With HT disabled, the speed on any game becomes at least 100% slower.

The emu can't run in safe mode because what he requires doesn't work there.
I don't run any extra processes.I made a little program from which I can start all of the programs I use and usually are started along with windows,so all of those test were done after starting the pc and don't run any programs(Task Manager=>Processes says 24)

Currently after all those tests,my ram usage was reduced to less than 200mb and if I try any of the games above,it will become real fast above 1000mb usage

Every time I try to close the emu after the problem,I get this
Code:
Wait for emuthread timed out! :(
please alert the developer to possible deadlock or infinite loop in emuthread!

And on all of those games if Buffered Rendering is enabled,I get black screen.

RE: Some strange problems with ram usage
Something funny is going on. Everything you describe sounds completely consistent with having xBRZ texture scaling enabled at e.g. >= 2x. But I don't know how HT could be affecting it.

Based on that, it really sounds like it must be a driver problem, especially the buffered rendering thing. Maybe a software renderer or Direct3D renderer would do better, but unfortunately those aren't near-term things necessarily...

RE: Some strange problems with ram usage
I undated the drivers and this is the result with HT enabled:

Dragon Ball Z Shin Budokai Another Road - plus 45fps

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep - plus 60fps

Gods Eater Burst - the opening video is visible now and the speed is the same(145)

Dissidia 012 - plus 40fps

YS 7 - now the missing textures are here(it needed BR)and I think it's faster

DBZ Tenkaichi Tag Team Demo - work fine(I didn't measure the speed before but not it's either the same or faster)

Naruto Shippuden Kizuna Drive Demo - need BR because some screens are black if it's disabled. With HT enabled and I also didn't measure the on thing game before but with HT it either faster or the same

God Of War - Chains of Olympus - video is visible now, require BR(missing elements otherwise)and faster with HT

God Of War - Ghost Of Sparta - same as above

Dante's Inferno - requires BR,otherwise black screen everywhere

Crisis Core - I couldn't figure out this game...there is no high ram usage but on cut scenes where I had to wait to get full speed on the cut scene, not it's acting the same ways as when HT was disabled(before updating the drivers...meaning slower and there is no difference on those cut scenes between on and off on HT)

The problem with msvcr100.dll still exist...if you run a PBP,the next time I start the emu,a dialog will appear with msvcr100.dll
Any game in the Recent that is after the PBP,will not be displayed and any game before the PBP will be displayed.

Now my main problem is what to do with those annoying black screens for 2 seconds every time I try to open the nvidia control panel or click on the tray icon and that those newer drivers don't have an option that I always used before on games that have max resolution lower than my screen resolution

P4's actually gain performance from having ht disabled in most cases.
