Some strange problems with ram usage
My PC is P4 2.8Ghz 1gb ram and 6600GT,I run PPSSPP on Windows XP x86...I know it's old and weak but the speed is not the problem(I get full speed and more(250+)on almost every game I tried)

This my first time using this emulator(actually any PSP emulator)and I have some strange problems.

1.On every game I try,if Buffered Rendering is enabled,I get black screen(the game is running fine,it's like Buffered Rendering is acting as show\give the game, replace it with black screen)

2.On almost every game if Hardware Transform is enabled(sometimes happens even if I just start the emulator),it start eating all of my remaining ram(more than 700mb)and when it uses it all,it continue with the remaining pagefile space.

If I try to close the emulator when that happens,I get a msgbox with this

Code:
Wait for emuthread timed out! :(
please alert the developer to possible deadlock or infinite loop in emuthread!

and it's really hard to kill the process when that happen(I have to use Process Hacker=>Terminator=>
Sets the page protection of the process' memory regions to PAGE_NOACCESS
to be able to kill the process.

If I disable the pagefile, then when it uses the last mb free of my ram,it returns to lower usage and the game continues normally otherwise(with pagefile enabled)I get a black screen and the emulator is keep eating ram and pagefile to no end.

3.On Crisis Core if Hardware Transform is enabled, almost everywhere when something is loading, there is a big delay(from 5 to 20 seconds)until the game continue. If HT is disabled,it load everything quickly but there are sound problems and the game runs little slower

The games I tried are:
Gods Eater Burst - Works fine but there is a black screen on the opening video(the sound is running)
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep - if HT is on...huge ram usage
Ys Seven - slow if HT off...there missing text boxes too
Crisis Core - big delay if HT is on
Dissidia 012 - I'm not completely sure but I think this was the only game that don't have problem if HT is enabled...on every attack not executed at least once, there is slight slow down and sound stuttering but after that it's fine.
Dragon Ball Z Tenkaichi Tag Team - right before the beginning of battle(after that mini video(or whatever it's called)that shows the terrain around)),if HT on,this will lead to black screen and huge ram usage(if I disable the pagefile, the black screen disappear after a while and the game continue). If HT is off, there will be no black screen and the ram usage will be ok.

I'm using PPSSPP v0.8-32-gf1659a2 but I tried different versions too(the official and other older\newer betas)but it was the same.

RE: Some strange problems with ram usage
tested a few games now on both Windows and Android:

-Ridge Racer 2 and The Third Birthday : 30/35 mb after 20 minutes of gameplay

-Mortal Kombat Unchained seems to indefinitely reserve memory and also very quickly : 160/200 mb after less than 10 minutes

you can noticed that some particular game eats memory especially quickly?

PS : I suppose you are the same vsub from pcsx2 ?

So Welcome to the forum !

Is this with Hardware Transform enabled?
Is the game visible if Buffered Rendering is enabled?

The high ram usage doesn't happen when you load the game,it happen when you are almost at the point where you can control the characters.

RE: Some strange problems with ram usage
yes hardware Transform enabled

but the game is visible for me even whit buffered Rendering enabled

don't forget that ppsspp's ram usage definately changes depending on how much the game needs.

RE: Some strange problems with ram usage
But with HT disable, the total usage never reach 900mb(the OS + PPSSPP).
With HT enabled,on some games at certain point something goes wrong and the emu start eating ram and pagefile to no end but with HT disabled, everything is fine(except that the speed goes down)

RE: Some strange problems with ram usage
I assume you have texture scaling, linear filtering, etc. all disabled, right? Can you try renaming/deleting ppsspp.ini just to be sure you've got default settings?

RE: Some strange problems with ram usage
I don't use scaling, linear filtering or anything that enhances the graphics(when I try something neweI automatically assume that any enhancement are too much for my pc so I turn everything that enhances the graphics off)

I tried deleting the settings many times because while I was trying to figure out what's wrong, sometimes the problem(high ram usage)was triggered even by just starting the emulator(no game loaded)

I also tried different version which didn't had any settings.
I tried just now one more time just to be sure(deleted the settings and tried a game without changing anything)but again, black screen if BR is enabled(it's acting exactly like this hide the game behind black screen\remove the black screen)
Also if HT is enabled....black screen, then it uses all of my remaining ram and continues with the page file.

With HT disabled,no black screens and no high ram usage

BTW in the settings(by default)...Settings=>Graphics=>Next Page=>there is Anisotropic Filter.
Is this enabled or?
It says Level 8x and I always disable the Anisotropic Filter

RE: Some strange problems with ram usage
One other thing I found is...if HT is disabled and if you run a .PBP file(demos in my case),the next time you start the emu,it will eat all of the remaining ram when the emu tries to display the game cover on the screen(after the emu logo)

If HT is enabled,it won't use ram but a dialog will appear saying that the program encounter a problem and the problem comes from msvcr100.dll

Deleting it from the Recent in the settings, fixes the problem

RE: Some strange problems with ram usage
I assume you have some sort of injection software installed that is causing the emulator to hang on to memory.

RE: Some strange problems with ram usage
The only thing I can think of is the antivirus(avast)but I already tried disabling it completely but no difference at all.

RE: Some strange problems with ram usage
Avast has a script scanner that injects into every single process whether its enabled or not.

RE: Some strange problems with ram usage
So to be sure avast is not the reason,I uninstalled all of the real time shields, restarted the pc and run the emu again
Here's what Process Hacker shows when it start eating ram.
