Galaxy S4 and ppsspp results
so I just updated my old Xperia Play to a brand new galaxy s4. The improvements are unbelievable, first thing I tried was nullDC and it now almost full speed about two seconds real time for one second game time with the countdown clock! used to be five to six seconds.

I literally just got it so I've only tested 3 PSP games to compare to my xperia plays performance
- Ridge Racer 2 with my xperia play was about 50fps with frameskip 2. Now with a s4 it is 50+ with no frameskip. 60fps with frameskip 1

- Wipeout Pulse with my xperia play was barely 30-45fps with frameskip 2. Now with s4 43-60 with frameskip 2

-Powerstone didnt work before I got this but it running 40-50 fps with frameskip 2. Only about 25 without frameskip

Anyway I didnt see any post regarding to performance of the s4, so thought it post it since im super stoked even tho the snapdragon 800 will trump me soon

Xperia Play 2.3.3

RE: Galaxy S4 and ppsspp results
I think PPSSPP not have fully support to GPUs OpenGL 3.0 on Android. I think it need be improved.

Ill make a video for nulldce but the onscreen controls are messed up there super small and in the middle...

Also should note kingdom hearts bbs now runs without any frameskip at 50-60 almost always dips in the 40's during a lot of action though

Your S4 is Snapdragon 600 or Exynos 5 Octa?

RE: Galaxy S4 and ppsspp results
If ppsspp supported the muti threading then this seed will increase by (4 +1.2x4/1.6=7) 7 TIMES O_o o_O
And if it supported the OpenGL 3.0 then .................

RE: Galaxy S4 and ppsspp results
Considering how happy i am with my note 2 clocked at 1.8 (the perfomance in RR2 is outstanding, getting 50~fps w/o FS) im curious to know what a Snapdragon could do in ppsspp.
The S4 pro in the nexus isnt much faster than the Exynos 4, basically is the same results. But the 600 should be better.
This said - the results in OP are discouraging. The Snap S4 variant has a great cpu and gpu, still it gets almost the same results as my note 2.
Wonder how the Octa will perform: if that seriously shows a huge improvement, then im game.

also XperiaPlay2Someday, i guess you're amdradeon over Paul's website yes? Smile

On my Galaxy S2 on some racing I get 50-60 FPS on RR2. Why you get on your S4 only 50 FPS. Your overclock is more than the S2.

4 cores armv7,4 cores armv15 1.6ghz for heavy work is great.gpu same as iphone 5.

much better than snapdragon 4 cores 1.9ghz,also the gpu for snapdragon is weak.

RE: Galaxy S4 and ppsspp results
Sigh, lets make things simple here.

S3 and Note 2 are basically the same, with different looks and RAM, but then:

S4 quad Krait @1.9Ghz isn't so different from the Exynos4 on N2 'n S3 @1.8-2Ghz, that's true, but then, sad truth is that Adreno 320 outperforms Mali 400MP4. So basically, the Adreno S4 kicks our S3 and N2, not by much but it does.

But theeeeen! The Exynos S4 has an A15, mang, an A15's some powerful thing, ya know? And although it's clocked to 1.6Ghz (kind of a waste imo) it does do equally or slightly better than S4 krait @1.9Ghz, and lets not talk about the GPU... SGX544MP3 it's newer and more powerful than the Adreno 320, all that while saving more battery on both cases, GPU and CPU. (Though I personally think it's quite even on the GPU part, I believe so personally, if it weren't so limited by software the Adreno 320 could do much better)

So yes, S4 krait is pretty better than most of the actual phones, but! S4 with Exynos 5 goes over it. So there's no need to go saying S4 snapdragon sucks, it doesn't. But the Exynos 5 is better, that's all.

P.S. The octa thing is nothing but two quad-core processors, one will almost always be off (if not always), the A7 will be used when your phone has low load, and it'll switch to A15 on heavy load.

-Samsung galaxy S3 International version - Android 4.4.2
-Dual Core locked CPU, Clocked at 1Ghz-1.8Ghz
-Mali 400MP4 GPU Clocked from 160Mhz to 533Mhz
-1GB ram, boo..

I didnt play around too much, I only had it for an hour when I posted this, id say that my fps are on the low side, after playing some more ridge racer 2, wipeout pulse play at 60 fps I just want to put the lowest it drops to

I have the US snapdragon one, I could be wrong but I hear the international 8 core doesnt have opengl 3.0
Yea, I did post over in Pauls code as well

RE: Galaxy S4 and ppsspp results
Should of spent a day with it before posting.
Ridge racer 2 is locked at 60fps with frameskip 1 it never dips below 58 and even 58 is very rare a split second

Kingdom Hearts bbs is 55-60fps almost always with no frameskip. If a lot is going on duribg a cutscene especially with sound it dips but only for a very short period like a couple secounds. Actually playing though it doesnt dip to much even in battle

Not having a gamepad like the xperia play does feel like a downgrade, but the performance is uncomparable. And with large buttons it feels just fine
