A couple of different issues
Hello.
So recently I tried to play Killzone Liberation (modded iso with DLC included) with my friends over both a VPN called ZeroTier and a the server site socom.cc.
When we try connect to a room we sometimes get error 110 even though everything seems to look fine and we followed all the correct settings that should occur - built in adhoc server for the one hosting the match and using the correct IP.
At most we when we played we got up to 4 players working out for us but above that people kept getting more and more errors.

A 2nd issue is the inabillity to use the a virtual keyboard if you use a Steam Deck on certain places.
You can write a new name for yourself in System settings and a blank name can cause errors when you try to join games.
in my opinion, a default name should still be there even if the name is blank at least to reduce the number of issues caused by this.
Thanks.

RE: A couple of different issues
Socket error 110 is Timeout error, it means that it wasn't able to connect or send within a certain time (how long the timeout it was varies/depends on the games), you can try overriding the timeout by increasing the Minimum Timeout setting, but this may not works on all games as it's a general attempt to override it (meanwhile, games that calculate their own timeouts can't be overridden without tampering on the game code, which need to be made specific for certain games just like cheat, and we don't do game specific modifications)

Regarding Virtual Keyboard not working on Steam Deck is a known issue, but not solved yet https://github.com/hrydgard/ppsspp/issues/18222
There seems to be a workaround (based on the post there)
Quote:Well I figured something, it's a issue with Steam, if I launch PPSSPP in desktop mode from applications the keyboard works fine but if I launch it from steam it no longer works.
Small tip, the keyboard doesn't show in desktop mode if PPSSPP is in full screen, switch it to window mode temporarily.

Regarding default name, most games are using the name being set in System setting (where the default is PPSSPP), so you shouldn't leave the name setting empty if it can cause an error.
As i remembered some games doesn't work if another player is already using the same name either (ie. if there are more than 1 player using PPSSPP name)

RE: A couple of different issues
Thanks for your answers.
I have 1 additional quip I found.
Sometimes when I try to log into a game on ad-hoc I found my name appear twice or more on the socom.cc site or in chat.
Even though I can't find any players to play with this appears strange.
I don't remember this had happened on previous times I used the emulator online.

RE: A couple of different issues
Did it also happened when using built-in Adhoc Server? (ie. when playing on LAN or multiple instances for example)

Chat messages and the player list shown on website are Adhoc Server doing, there might be a bug on socom's Adhoc Server sending the notification twice, thus it's not something that can be fixed from PPSSPP side.
Normally (like what we have on built-in Adhoc Server), you're not allowed to connect to Adhoc Server using the same IP twice (one of them will be kicked out), so there shouldn't be 2 players of the same user, since their IP are the same.
