Options to use multiplayer with blocked ports

My building's insane security admin has nearly every port blocked aside from ports 22, 80 and 443. Some other ports occasionally appear as open but these are not consistent. I'm not sure how to get around this. I've heard something about using a VPN, but I don't know if this would solve my problem or not.

I'm trying to play Monster Hunter Freedom Unite with a friend if that makes a difference. The game needs to be able to use port 10000 for the connection to the lobby. Ideally port 20001 would also be usable in order to let us both post quests.

You only option is VPN, just like what Hunsterverse's community did.
