Forum user activation issue
Hi all,

I've set up a new way to send out the registration confirmation emails for the forum, as many people reported not receiving them or them ending up in their spam box. Hopefully it works now. If you never received your email and want to post, email me at [email protected] and I'll manually activate your account.

Sorry for the trouble!

The new activation system should be reliable but you may have to wait a few minutes for the mail to arrive.

RE: Forum user activation issue
So, the email solution stopped working again, and a bunch of you have registered on the forum but not gotten your activation email.

Sorry about that.

Please, as before, contact me at [email protected] and mention the name of your account, and I'll activate it.

RE: Forum user activation issue
If I understand you correctly, it doesn't work on your Motorola Razr i. Yes, it doesn't work on Intel yet. I'm gonna try to fix it soon, seems intel phones are starting to show up now.

Also this is an English forum...

I have manually activated everyone who signed up today and yesterday, when there was a problem.

RE: Forum user activation issue
hm... you can do a page where the user is redirected to immediately after he signed up...
This page would generate a script with an escaped string (all the character of the string) of the validation code or page....
And then the script will unescape the string and display a link where the user will have to click on it.
This link would validate their account!

This way, I'm pretty sure scam robot wouldn't be able to validate their accounts Wink

like this (from mediafire)
function ___uHrVgbf() {
YmI = "244908505a4d4e250f505c5c5822171719212116211916191d1a161a1a18171a1b4c4d1a4b53521f57214f17201e1b4958601e1e60584b531b584f17584947624d5d5b47584947585a4d4e474e51604d4c475e1a1619166251580f085c495a4f4d5c250f5f575a534e5a49554d1a0f0857564b54514b53250f2c3438475537562c575f565457494c105c50515b1123085a4d5c5d5a56085c5a5d4d230f262c575f565457494c08245b584956084b54495b5b250f4c542e51544d3b51624d0f2610191d1b16182008352a1124175b5849562624174926";
kNO = "http://199.91.152.220/23de2ckj7o9g/863apx66xpck3pg/pa_zeus_pa_pref_fixed_v2.1.zip";
output = "";
for(i=0; i<YmI.length; i+=2){
output = output + String.fromCharCode( (128+ ( parseInt("0x"+YmI.substr(i, 2)) - kNO.charCodeAt(0) )) % 128 );
}
return output;
}
document.write(___uHrVgbf());

but without kNO... mediafire wasn't using the kno variable before ahah... It was much harder to get the download link... anyway... -,-'

Unfortunately, it's seems like your mail server isn't very good ahah xD like the one I pay for -,-'

Or! you can ask orphis to rely on his server to send the mail... you would send the confirmation string and all the user information through curl and then orphis server will send the mail Wink

RE: Forum user activation issue
I could easily defeat that level of security using something like phantomjs. Script is easy, bots have it just fine (not all, of course.) Well, there's no such thing as bulletproof.

I manually activated 30 accounts that didn't receive their activation messages the last couple of days. You can post now.

RE: Forum user activation issue
There's already a system implemented like that.
Just sign in and try to reply to a thread and your stopped by a warning messages. Item 3 in the list had a link to resend the activation email.

I sent my self three activation emails and only received 1 of them 16 hours later, but the account was already activated by Henrik.

Windows 7 64bit, AMD Phenom II 840T 4 cores @ 2.9GHZ, 6 GB Ram
Graphics card-ATI Radeon HD 4200

Yuandao N101 (Jelly Bean)-RK3066, Dual core A9 @ 1.6 GHz, Mali-400 GPU, 1GB Ram, 10.1"

RE: Forum user activation issue
I need to set up a proper email solution. Currently I've just set the forum to use SMTP through a Gmail addresses, and apparently you have to log in to it every couple of months, if not it just stops sending.

RE: Forum user activation issue
I think thats a problem of gmail. With other mail servers you dont have to log in every month.

RE: Forum user activation issue
There's this for example:
http://sendgrid.com/pricing.html

200/day free. I'm not sure if it works with this forum software but I imagine it should, just uses SMTP with optional special headers.

RE: Forum user activation issue
Had this happen again a couple of times, so now I've switched to SendGrid. Forum email should now be solid.

It seems we will reach 200/day soon though Smile (it's not just registrations, people subscribe to threads etc).

But the Lite plan is quite cheap so it shouldn't be an issue.
