Information Potrait Mode of Playing Games - WITH EASE-CLARITY
Hi,

As I am Used to Playing NES games in Portrait Mode
But the PPSSPP app seems to be tuned for Landscape Mode

I need to Adjust Layout of PPSSPP to That of Nostalgia NES Emulator

Ideally the game must look like this image below

2. Need TO Be Able To Adjust Game-Pad Layout Like This

3. Need To Be Able To Adjust Screen Layout Like This

4. Guy Providing Two Options Controller Layout Screen Layout

Yes I Checked Option: Graphics->Display Layout Editor
But Was Not Able to Achieve What NES - Emulator Got with Its App
Not Able to Rotate Controls to Portrait Mode...

RE: Potrait Mode of Playing Games - WITH EASE-CLARITY
I've only seen this done once, with the game Patapon, that needs 4 buttons to play. It looked terrible. Remember the PSP screen was wide. On a vertical phone it will be nothing but a sliver of tiny graphics and illegible text. You are already using two hands to play, just rotate the phone.

RE: Potrait Mode of Playing Games - WITH EASE-CLARITY
I am able to play with these Games {Burnout Legends, FIFA-14, Ridge Racer}---->Ok except for Layout and Controls.

Yet Providing an option would be good(also note speed up of Game)...

RE: Potrait Mode of Playing Games - WITH EASE-CLARITY
@_pA89 go to PPSSPP system settings and under General settings you'll find(only on android) "Screen Rotation", set that to portrait and you'll get what you want. Then you can go to Display layout editor and position the display where you want on the screen, but keep rotation as landscape there as it exists there for those very few PSP portrait games. Touch controls can also be moved around, but PSP had way more input options than NES so it'll not be anywhere close as good.

Dunno what you want as an additional features, because Display Layout Editor can be used to move display around easily and edit touch control layout can do same about controls. The only thing you can't do is to change the aspect ratio, PSP games are widescreen not some square weirdness from NES, most you could do is to zoom into it enough to hide left and right parts of the screen.

1. Buttons: They can't be done properly (you can look at thread 3 they overlap and overflow out of screen)and easily ( also given tiny potrait space is not utilized properly unlike nes simulator)
2. when changing from potrait mode to landscape mode buttons dont retain their respective positions which were set for them in their respective screen mode

obviously more work is required in that reigon (edit touch control) for games to be playable in potrait mode...and it could benifit some users

RE: Potrait Mode of Playing Games - WITH EASE-CLARITY
Your can change it so they don't overlap nor go out of the screen easily. Positions are relative not per display mode, but they can be set per game.

1. can you do it and post a picture...
2. while adjusting is good for landscape wont work for potrait mode and vice versa , post a gif pic confirming the same of your statement

RE: Potrait Mode of Playing Games - WITH EASE-CLARITY
Just did above althrough games will not be playable without all buttons, I used what can be seen on your examples. I also moved display above all buttons. Size of the area where things are placed is smaller than actual screen and portrait mode doesn't exactly resemble representation since nobody used it to test before, but it's definitely not impossible to set whatever location someone wants to.

I assume you set
Display Layout Editor ---> Manual Mode
and adjusted the Buttons (with Difficulty -- The Zoom/Resize is not Intelligent)

Okay Now if you tilt the phone to Landscape mode ---- The Original PSP Style Game play will be lost both for Display and The Buttons Positions

Can you post an animated .gif image refuting my argument...

You need to again manipulate the settings -- which is extremely uneasy

RE: Potrait Mode of Playing Games - WITH EASE-CLARITY
As I said we don't have separate coordinates for other modes. Had no difficulty on settings the buttons through despite my phone not using 16:9 screen, so I don't understand your problem. Or actually I now get it - you are't using portrait orientation...

Auto screen orientation was always buggy and disabled for a very long time, not recommend using it, doesn't even refresh/reset things properly without reentering menus, that is a bug, just not something people care about as in general most people don't want orientation switching while playing games.

However it's also not something you asked about in this thread which was portrait orientation that works well outside some ugliness in some menus.
Don't understand why your entire gimmick prefference is to use portrait yet you somehow ended up using auto orientation, but imo that mode should simply stay disabled until someone that cares fixes it properly, it reminds me of adhoc which also was enabled when made in a very hackish way for one game all because popular demand, except it's worse as auto orientation was never popular.

Point 1. Nope... (So Both are Important- at-least for me)
+ I use Portrait mode at work/Outdoors (short spurts)
+ Landscape Mode at Home(full blown, relaxed)
(So cant go on adjusting controls and display...)

You answered your own questions...

I was trying to steer the conversation to Point 1. (obviously When I started the thread I was hoping Auto screen orientation would work out of box--- Even for portrait mode I had difficulty in adjusting buttons)

Needless to say, this thread pulled out many improvements that can be done - Anyways thanks for your time Smile
