Gamepads analogs have some kind of dead zone
Is that normal.
If I try to set the gamepad analogs to anything but the analogs in ppsspp,I have to push the analog direction almost all the way to the end until ppsspp react to it but if I set the left\right analog to the "Analog" directions in ppsspp, then even the tinniest push get registered and the character moves.

There are some games that are using the D-Pad to also control the camera so naturaly you will also want to set the right analog to the D-Pad along with the gamepad D-Pad but I have to push the analog almost all the way to the end until the game moves the camera.

Setting anything non game related to any of the analogs acts the same way

Using PPSSPP on Windows 7 x64 SP1
i7 4771 3.5Ghz,GTX750TI,16GB RAM

RE: Gamepads analogs have some kind of dead zone
They are ANALOG.
To function like digital buttons they are doing "0 coordinate is not pressed, max coordinate is pressed."
Its not really about deadzones.

The buttons seem to have deadzones though, I often press on a button but it doesnt press unless I press more towards the center or really plant down my entire finger on the button.

settings > controls > and scroll a little down there you have option to change radius of deadzone

and if that wont help you then you could always switch your gamepad digital mode

Try AntiMicro graphical program used to map keyboard keys and mouse controls to a gamepad/controller.

RE: Gamepads analogs have some kind of dead zone
There's analog sensitivity and analog limiter, I'm not sure any of those would help with deadzone the op.

Ps just realized they were talking about using a controller, I was talking about using the on screen touch buttons on my phone.

This sounds more like a problem with your controller.

By that do you mean phone? Because I did specify right above your comment (so it was the last comment before you posted) that I'm talking about using the touch buttons on the mobile version of the app. In any case I believe my phone is fine in that department.

I thought it was about controller.
I dont think the onscreen buttons are supposed to have any... "deadzones".
I know I cant play PPSSPP on my phone, because my screen is bit bugged and it does not register presses many times.

RE: Gamepads analogs have some kind of dead zone
Might be a ppsspp bug then, because my screen works fine with other things but won't register presses at times (/won't register at times unless I plant basically the entire from of my finger on the button), I do have the buttons pretty large and have been thinking it would be nicer if I could make it even larger but maybe what I need to do is make them smaller, it might be that a certain amount of points on the button has to be touched for ppsspp to register the press.

RE: Gamepads analogs have some kind of dead zone
I set the dead zone to 0 but there is no difference at all
My gamepad can work in wired and wireless mode but ppsspp only detect it as XInput(pcsx2 and rpcs3 for example can use it DInput and in XInput mode...the gamepad don't have a feature to switch between modes)

I remember I was using my old DInput only wired gamepad before to play PSP2 and I was controling the camera with the right analog without problems(that gamepad is not here to try again)

The analogs are working perfectly fine when I set for example the left analog to work as the d-pad on:
PCSX2 in DInput/Xinput
RPCS3 in DInput/Xinput
ePSXe....I don't know what is he using

The d-pad direction is detected immediately by even the smallest push

RE: Gamepads analogs have some kind of dead zone
switching from digital to analog mode and vice versa should be done via mode/analog/home/connect button

usually its the button that let you connect to bluetooth dongle

like look for example this 1 does that with that p3 button in the center

this 1 have analog button between analogs
https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1PZErSFXXX...40x640.jpg

and the 1 i use does that with home button
https://ocdn.eu/skapiec-transforms/1/JRN...ArzCw4EBAQ

also it may sound like stupid idea but did u even try to calibrate it in control panel?

RE: Gamepads analogs have some kind of dead zone
The gamepad(GameSir t1S)don't have a DInput/XInput switching feature.
And yes,I did try to callibrate them anyway but they are fine

On the PCSX2 I have a homebrew elf\app that allows you to test the gamepad and I can see that everything is detected correctly but on ppsspp, the analogs are not deteced immediately when pushing them unless they are set to control the analogs in ppsspp
X360CE also detects everything(even the tinniest push on the analogs)
