Keep getting frame drops on my laptop
I'm trying to play PPSSPP and so far I get really weird spots of lags and framedrops in the games I've been trying so far "Castlevania, Digimon and Star Ocean"

They seem to be random framedrops or lag. My computer should be more than powerful enough to run everything maxed.. but it's acting odd.

If there is a way to make a log I'd be happy too.
I can even try to get recordings if it helps, but I'm hoping it's just something I haven't found yet.

But my PC specs.

CPU = I7 7820HK
Ram = 32gigs DDR4
OS = Windows 10
GFX = GTX 1080

RE: Keep getting frame drops on my laptop
Very weird. Are you laptop in performance mode? Use MSI Afterburner to check temps and hardware usage when the drops happen.

Phones: Poco F3 8GB/256GB (Snapdragon 870 5G) and Redmi Note 6 Pro 4/64GB (Snapdragon 636)

PC: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 / 16GB RAM DDR4 3600MHz / NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti 6GB / Windows 10 Pro

Don't know if that's your problem here, but note that your claim is NOT true.

PPSSPP can easily become very demanding depending on your settings. Most notably, if you're using texture scaling, especially any different than xBRZ and especially if you set it high like x5 your pc will easily not be fast enough for some games and get small drops in some places of many others.:]
In the future at least for the vulkan backend we might have faster texture scaling via compute shaders, but with current option you really should either be modest or get used to frame drops;p.

It could also be a harddrive issue. You might want to turn on the option to load the ISO into RAM(Settings>System->Cache full ISO in RAM) if you haven't already.

RE: Keep getting frame drops on my laptop
Thanks for the help.

With information from LunaMoo's post and several videos, I -seem- to have most games running fine. Obviously some take different settings than others, but most seem to be running pretty smoothly now.

Thanks! Smile
