Wolfenstein 3D
Downloads for the homebrew:
-Wolfenstein 3D v6.0,
-Wolfenstein 3D v6.0 Floppy Version Patch,
-Wolfenstein 3D v6.0 (source).

Note aside of the app you also require content from actual Wolfenstein 3D games to play this, it supports:
- Wolf3D Shareware version,
- Wolf3D Full version (both Floppy & CD versions),
- Spear Of Destiny Shareware version,
- Spear Of Destiny Full version,
- Spear Of Destiny Episode 2,
- Spear Of Destiny Episode 3.

Not sure if there's any official download for shereware versions, lots of unofficial ones easily found on google that's for sure, all the full games can be easily bought in a pack on GOG.

Starting with v1.4.1-2-g1bf3885 this homebrew should be fully playable, can't say if it doesn't have any bugs as most homebrew are buggy/unfinished by natureTongue, but it worked well in-game as far as I played it in the process of fixing it, probably more enjoyable than pc version due to built-in map:].
Note it runs at various weird fps, but looking at the source that's actually correct.

RE: Wolfenstein 3D
It was crashing for me. But I didn't download from the same place you're linking. I'll try again later.

Running this on PC should be of interest to precisely no one except me, because I'm working on updating it for the PSP and want to use PPSSPP for debugging purposes. For anyone else who just wants to play Wolfenstein 3D on PC or Android, there is an excellent modern source port called ecWolf. Runs at modern resolutions, has auto-map, has an Android port, its perfect. You can support further development of ecWolf by buying the game "Super 3D Noah's Ark" on itch.io

RE: Wolfenstein 3D
If it crashes, first make sure you don't use too outdated ppsspp as noted in first post the game got playable just recently.

Also make sure you're placing your homebrew folder into /PSP/GAME/ on memstick, depending on ppsspp version it will not work at all or work with extra problems if you place it anywhere else.
In ppsspp versions v1.4.2-45-g901b62a and above location is also important for quite a few emulator features that in the past didn't supported homebrew at all or behaved weirdly due to their lack of proper/unique gameID.

RE: Wolfenstein 3D
I had no idea the location was so important. Does making a C:\PSP\GAME\ folder count?

RE: Wolfenstein 3D
Well it only does for homebrew, so it might not be a common knowledge:].

Standard location of memstick differs between platforms, on windows for example it's at ppsspp\memstick or under My Documents, but you can also easily change it by going to Settings->System and use "save path in installed.txt" or manually create such text file in ppsspp folder with a path to memstick directory.

Note that all savedata, savestates, screenshots etc, pretty much everything that ppsspp can save is stored in it's own folder on "memstick", so using root of your hdd like "C:\" for a memstick folder is probably not a great idea, you will also have to move folders from your existing memstick to new location manually if you want to use that stuff:].

If you don't care about moving your other stuff, you could make your life easier and just "symlink" some folder to be seen as ppsspp default memstick/PSP/GAME/ or even just use the default one and create a shortcut to avoid having to browse to it:].

RE: Wolfenstein 3D
Thanks! I think that is the key info I needed. This should be in the FAQ Smile

RE: Wolfenstein 3D
I tried with the 64bit v1.4.2-196-gdfdf548 and while it can access the menu to select which version of the game, the game exits as soon as Wolf3D Shareware is selected.

(later edit) Oh wait! I just discovered that only the shareware versions are broken! Both the Wolf3D Shareware and the SOD shareware fail to load but the full commercial versions work!

RE: Wolfenstein 3D
Hmmm I didn't noticed before, but shereware files are indeed included in the homebrew package, they just seem to have wrong names?

Original shareware files were in all caps, so don't know why this homebrew comes with them renamed, but it searches for all caps names and that's what PPSSPP is checking for. For now you can fix the shereware simply by renaming it's files to use all capital letters as that's what the game is looking for.

Not sure how this should behave on PSP, we might just treat it incorrectly, but I think someone set that(that is case sensitivity) after testing ~ heh:].

It works as shipped on PSP but not on PPSSPP. Thanks for the tip -- I'll try renaming the files.

RE: Wolfenstein 3D
I think we just have some weird bug, checked it's source and the game actually search for lower case, but works only with uppercaseTongue. This should be just case insensitive, so it must be messed up somewhere, will look into that.

RE: Wolfenstein 3D
It worked for me after renaming the files and this even changed the behavior of the new version I'm building. My new version still doesn't work but it at least shows the same error message on PPSSPP as on PSP now.

RE: Wolfenstein 3D
Hopefully in future versions it will work out of the box without renaming.

Maybe PPSSPP could even include Wolfenstein 3D with it's shareware versions in the built-in homebrew store(it's under homebrew & demos tab), but the fact that it lists all games and just exists quietly when selecting one with missing files makes it kind of bad.:c

I am hoping to eventually fix that and fix the problem with turning while strafing, and maybe improve the automap and eventually to port over the game Super 3D Noah's Ark.
