RE: Bots.
NOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! WAI!!!!!!????? HOW I WILL NOW GET INFO ON HOW TO EXPAND MY BOOBS!!!!!????? NOOOOOO!!!!!

but well we dont have many new posters here so not many ppl have anymore problems with ppsspp so well i miss the point

i know bots are annoying and posts like "make ur penis longer" or "get fake ID" should not be here

but well if you care to move to different forum choose 1 with good captcha protection or whatever

Try AntiMicro graphical program used to map keyboard keys and mouse controls to a gamepad/controller.

RE: Bots.
I help out as a moderator on the drastic-ds forum, they are using phpBB and have been fairly efective at keping the bots out. The forum is set that a mod has to approve the first post of any account. The bots can then collect and be banned or just blocked all at one time.

RE: Bots.
Hm, that's sounds reasonable. Wonder if it's possible to implement with MyBB...

RE: Bots.
Is image verification the only bot registration counter-measure? It doesn't seem to work very well right now.

I have no experience with MyBB , but after reading about this plugin, it sounds very interesting, as there aren't much posts by days on this forum (most of the posts are from the spam), it should still be manageable.

In case the MyBB captcha is too weak, i have seen recommendation of the google one :
https://community.mybb.com/thread-206303...pid1254482

Looking up to additional layer of spam blocking, there's this "prevent user to create new thread until they have required amount of posts" that in combination to the new users requiring approval should make it very easy to stop this insane spamming on the ppsspp board :
https://community.mybb.com/thread-108675.html
https://mods.mybb.com/view/no-new-threads

Limiting the amount of thread by a single user in a single day could very likely help against spammers
https://community.mybb.com/mods.php?action=view&pid=60
That said, with the various MyBB versions, i wonder if plugins can work on whatever version PPSSPP boards are running on.

RE: Bots.
Thanks!

I found an option to enable "admin approval" as signup method, trying that first. I'll also try the "prevent user to create new thread" plugin.

Okay, re-enabling email signups, but now with "Required Approvals" plugin enabled. Let's see what happens.

RE: Bots.
Well, now I have to go in and approve posts from time to time and new users may get confused why their posts aren't showing up. So not sure it's an ideal solution...

RE: Bots.
You should only have to approve that first post and any they make after the first shouldn't need approval.

You could put that it works that way in the Forum Rules post, then it should not be an issue since we all and everyone does read the forum rules..... or at least you know who didn't then.

Plus between waiting a few extra days for your post to get up and (maybe) get answered or having your question get buried under 20 spam topics and not get looked at for days anyway..... I think the former is probably better.

RE: Bots.
You'd just need a Forum Announcement thread about requiring approval for the first post, anyone who doesn't care enough to check that first should reconsider improving their common sense and focus.

1. had account activation via email and bots did bypass that?

or

2. did was just create acc and u can log in without any confirmation?

cause im now confused it need to be as far as post approval?

if 2 then why we cant just 1?

if 1 then maybe allow mods somehow to approve this new posts

RE: Bots.
1, but they didn't really bypass it, the bots just got new email addresses all the time and clicked the approval link. Not possible to automatically distinguish from real users.

RE: Bots.

also i remember 1 forum where u was registering ur email

u was getting an password to that email and a link where it was 1 time password and u could not do anything on the forum

and from that login u was filling ur info like new pass nick and stuff

is that not possible too?
