RE: The Sims 2 Castaway
Random crash when objects come on screen (like the sleeping mat at the beginning). Also random crash during the vomit animation (tested on 1.3, 1.2.2 and 1.1.1).

Does anybody know How to fix the sims 2 castway?
Hi, I've been using ppsspp for a while now and I'm pretty satisfied with it so far,. However there is one problem, the Sims 2 castaway does freezes after about 10 minutes or so and since the game doesn't have auto save this makes the game unplayable. So does anybody know how to fix that? They would be much appreciated

Heart RE: The Sims 2 Castaway
The way I play is if the game freezes in the part of what my sim is doing, I'd restart the game and do a different action. I had a theory that if you tried to do the same action that made the game freeze, it will always freeze in that part so I change my actions all the time, though it's tiring but maybe if you've got the patience you'll get used to this method. Smile I hope this works out for you. OuO

RE: The Sims 2 Castaway
Never had interest in those games, but got it in a pack together with "new"(aka second hand;p) psp so might as well test.

So far I could not reproduce any crashes, but I found a few infinite loops which some could take as crashes, possibly a timing issue(aka awfuly coded game vs inaccurate timings), not much can be easily done about it, but made a cwcheat workaround for it:
Code:
_S ULUS-10296
_G The Sims 2: Castaway
_C0 Kill infinite loops
_L 0xE004FFFD 0x000731DC
_L 0x200731DC 0x00000000
_L 0x2005ED4C 0x00000000
_L 0x20067918 0x00000000
_L 0x2005DF18 0x00000000
_C0 Kill infinite loops [Disable]
_L 0xE0040000 0x000731DC
_L 0x200731DC 0x4502FFFD
_L 0x2005ED4C 0x4502FFFD
_L 0x20067918 0x4502FFFD

~no idea if it breaks anything, I just allowed AI to do stuff for a while with unthrottle while typing this post and nothing horrible happened ~ aside from some chimp getting a bit too friendly:

It also does suffer from ~ 30s delay when accessing save menu, possibly caused by unimplemented sceIoChangeAsyncPriority syscall since I recall it causes weird delays like that, unthrottle can make the wait much shorter.

Saw some minor glitches as well, like when starting the game water get's some Z fighting for a short moment, slightly affected by depth rounding compat hacks, but not in a way to make them disappear so not worth using, not sure if they aren't just ment to be there as the game is rather ugly ~ neither artistic nor polished.

Last problem I noticed some 2D UI elements suffer from typical problems caused by increasing rendering res, easily worked around by high enough xbrz texture scaling or better - texture replacement, ofc using x1 rendering res is the correct fix for that:].

RE: The Sims 2 Castaway
Monkeys usually freeze my game eventually. Using a save state won't quell the crash.

RE: The Sims 2 Castaway
Learn to read thread you're posting in;p as if you really want to play you can find a workaround for that in my post above. PPSSPP is not an accurate emulator and given the target hardware(potatoes and other toasters) might never be so poorly coded games will often suffer from various timing issues which might not be easily fixed officially.

There are still crashes with more monkeys and other sims later in the game. I can provide a save if you're willing to look into it.
