RE: 3DNes Nintendo Entertainment System in 3D
yes it use some detection algorithm but its not perfect and it often make bad choices

but you have there full menu for you to adjust each sprite object and stuff and after that you can save a .3dn file which is just data of what part of what you see should look like

so in other words you can (in some game) turn moon in to ball or turn moon in to coin shape and save which ever you like and edit like that many many other stuff

they even have repository where they post that 3dn files for different games - of course you can share there your own
https://itch.io/board/28136/3dn-showcase-and-sharing

and this emulator is far from perfect ALWAYS you will need to edit/adjust something in EVERY game before it will look close to even playable

and not all objects can be edited so many games will just look like s#!t

here is Goal 3

http://imgur.com/a/SX6si

pictures are mixed idk why they uploaded in random order

problem is i can edit field but i cant do much with info section below

also notice how i cant edit text even so it fall under same category section and emu threat it randomly

I guess this emulator is prolly good if used on some 2D platformers unlike Goal 3.

Titles like Adventure Island, Duck Tales, Super Mario Bros. , Ninja Gaiden, Contra, Kirby's Adventure, Castlevania, Metroid.

RE: 3DNes Nintendo Entertainment System in 3D
i think it have little to do with some games but allot with some textures
like for example on 1st stage of castlevania leafs are well hard to handle by emulator
on other hand in adventure island on 1st stage leafs are easy to handle cause they are most likely full color shape

there are many different things that define if object is easy to calculate or no

but in the end most games are at last playable and some just looks epic

to think of it imagine nintendo would develop and distribute next gen nes which would feature that semi 3D graphic
i would buy it it would be like renesans for nes but well nintendo for sure dont even give 2 f*©k$ about it

RE: 3DNes Nintendo Entertainment System in 3D
After seeing these videos, I started imagining a 3DSnes!! It would be awesome playing Link to the Past, Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger in these 2.5D rendering!!

I wonder if it’s possible.

if u used 3dnes and actually did try to edit some elements in game with its editor

u will understand that 3d SNES would in fact be awesome but as its 1 guy project and graphics in snes are far more complicated regardless of the algorithm that would calculate what is char and what is backgroud or even what is floor
editor for 3dsnes would be really something hardcore to even manage to with cause of how complex is snes graphics in snes

for example zelda would go smooth cause of its cartoonish look but chrono trigger with all that effects editing like even the overworld map would be pain not to mention rest

for example earthbound/mother would be easy task but games like castlevania or sumer mario legend of 7 stars no way

+ add this that many snes games have shadows and that alone would be hard to determine by that algorithm

but as someone asked on 3dnes forums

https://itch.io/t/35535/super-nintendo-3d-emulator

it dont looks like its imposible
