Star Ocean: First Departure

RE: Star Ocean: First Departure
Tried on v0.8 characters are showing for me when I disable buffered rendering, when im on the map it works fine abit laggy but nothing major also in-game saving and loading works fine only bad thing is combat where it doesn't show the full screen half is black with buffered rendering disabled and 3/4 is black with it enabled. It is playable but youll be constantly switching settings at the start and end of every battle.

It works well for me. I use PPSSPP 0.8.1 with a HTC Desire HD.

Here's to hoping that it's a relatively easy fix, or maybe they can somehow make it so you don't have to swap back and forth settings...?

Edit: Game runs with non-squashed screen on most recent version, but Buffered Rendering must be enabled. This however, makes characters invisible outside of battle.

RE: Star Ocean: First Departure
I have the same problem, characters is invisible when the cutscenes end, and doesn't matter turn on or off the buffered render the characters continue to not appear in the screen.

Versions tested 0.8.1-41, 0.8.1-61, 0.8.1-233, 0.8.1-495 all have the invisible characters issue.

PC specs:

AMD FX 8320 Oc'ed to 4.6ghz
ATI 6870 the last oficial update driver.
8gb ram
WIN 8 64bits

I originally thought the issue was tied to the same one Star Ocean 2 as that game runs and looks perfect on the latest test builds. I wonder what's making the first one act so wonky. Huh

RE: Star Ocean: First Departure
It works for me with last PPSSPP Windows build.

I use :
- Hardware Transform
- Vertex Cache
- Stream VBO
- Mipmapping
- Texture Filtering : Nearest

I have no black background in combat when Buffered Rendering is off and characters are visibles.

But there are a few bugs :

- In battle, characters or enemies stay sometimes in high.
- Characters don't go into the background.

RE: Star Ocean: First Departure
Hey guys, I've been testing Star Ocean: First Departure quite a bit.

I'm using PPSSPP v0.8.1-519-g10e5224 x86 and my results are as follows:

* x2 Render Resolution
* Hardware Transform
* Vertex Cache
* MipMapping
* Texture Filtering Auto
* Texture Scaling x2 / xBRZ
* Ignore Illegal Read/Writes

NVIDIA graphics card / Core 2 Duo CPU / MacBook Pro

Characters appear with Buffered Rendering deselected

AMD graphics card / Core i7 CPU / MacBook Pro

Characters DO NOT appear with Buffered Rendering deselected

I'm guessing it's a compatibility issue with the emulator between the two graphics cards, which is why some people aren't getting the same results as others. Would be great to see this fixed at some point! Smile

@Captain Star Paw
You're right.
If I use my Intel HD Graphics 4000, characters appear.
But with the AMD Radeon HD 7600M, no.

Thanks dude!

As a matter of fact, that would be my next question, because the jpcsp emulator has the same issue, the last versions of that program don't let people with the amd graphics card enjoy the star ocean first departure.

It's complicated, two emulators with the same problem. But i think i have seen other fella above with a intel core i5 3570 and a gtx 660ti having the same problem that i have.

Still, better wait for some inside info from the dev team.

Thanks a lot. \o
