Big Grin Background images look like rectangles
It's not a huge issue but it can be a little annoying during cutscenes.. or worse... when it's in my face in MGS:Peace Walker because the huge green rectangles are supposed to be small bushes.

v0.9.9-37-g682e1c1
64 bit
windows 7
graphics card drivers up to date

The same thing happened with earlier versions (0.9.8-xx). Is it a setting I have on/off? I attached a quick screenshot I took from kingdom hearts.

RE: Background images look like rectangles
I think you've got the "Disable Alpha Test" hack enabled.

Disable it, you won't get much of a speedboost from it unless you're on a PowerVR device anyway.

PPSSPP Modern Testbed:-
Intel Core i5 4690K @ 4.0 GHz
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5 VRAM @ 1138/6500 Mhz
16 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

PPSSPP Ancient Testing Rig:-
Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 @ 2.8GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon 4670 1GB GDDR3 VRAM @ 843/882 MHz
8 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1066 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

RE: Background images look like rectangles
You're welcome, glad to have helped.

Generally speaking, if you're on Windows/Desktop, you shouldn't have to use any of the hacks located in the Hack Settings section of the Graphics Settings except for the "Texture coord speedhack", which works great with "Software Skinning" (enabled by default).

RE: Background images look like rectangles
The most noticeable exception to using software skinning is the Monster Hunter series; those games receive a huge speed penalty from having software skinning on.

But at any rate, PCs generally don't need these hacks.

Software skinning makes MH games slow?
I've always left that "on"... Blush

Is there anything else I need to know about settings for games such as MHFU? Big Grin

RE: Background images look like rectangles
Try it. Use turbo mode with it on, and notice its speed. Then turn it off and see how much quicker it is. If you can already run it at full speed, it's not really an issue, but if you're on a low-end PC or something, it might make the difference between playable and just barely not.

Yeah, ok, thanks.
