Tried it on the 711 build and noticed some peculiarity:
Though the gameplay is now broken(I can see 1 static picture/frame only when turning the 2x SSAA on and off, otherwise it's black) I've noticed some really interesting thing: the menu now is just perfect. It was a bit off before- when you chose a male character in the beginning he was covered with a blue contour instead of a picture and now it's working just fine.

Not sure about that, gameplay is the same as the above screenshots for me. All the 2D scenes are pretty much perfect, and the battles remain mostly black, although you see spell effects and some interface. This was tested on android though, if that makes a difference.

RE: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3
Yeah with frameskip on Xperia Play I get full 60FPS on all dialog / out-of-dungeon exploration with voices being understandable and the game overall looking fantastic.

In dungeons and combat the 3D Models and landscape don't show, as mentioned above, but I've managed to play a couple hours by using the minimap as it and the combat UI are showing correctly.

Can't wait for being able to see dungeon exploration, thanks for the hard work, guys!

RE: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3
What settings do people use to play this game on windows?

I tried switching some settings on/off, but either my screens stays black or the screen flickers heavily.

When I tried it on my android phone it worked without issues (except low fps)

In Win-version it's not about settings, but about the version itself. Should you read the thread carefully you'd notice the version it's working on: v0.6-656-g44e2a69.

It works on every version since then, I have it running on v0.6-760-g76b0467

I tried it on v0.6-760-g76b0467 with your settings, and I still have the same flickering problem...

The game works just fine when I boot it: atlus logo/criware logo and main menu all works fine. But after I selected my difficulty I just get a black screen, which isn't updating. Only when I am selecting a different window size/changing settings is when I see a single frame which flickers heavily.

Does anybody else experience this, or does anybody know the solution?

It seems I was mistaken, the settings I posted does indeed only give a black screen, but he following settings.ini will definitively start a new game correctly.

do you have the assets? because the git build stuff doesn't come with the assets. You have to download the official 0.6.1 release to get those assets and then place those into the assets folder of your downloaded gitbuild.

Also, is there any estimation when we can expect working 3D segments? dungeon runs and black battles are doable, but kinda annoying.

There seems to be a few other games that also only display 2D, such as Everybody's Golf 2. It should be fixed eventually.
