64 bit version crashes
Im trying to run either version 0.9.9 or 0.9.9.1 and both crash at startup. The 32bit version works but i want to use the 64bit since i have 64bit windows 7. The log says:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: PPSSPPWindows64.exe Application Version: 0.9.9.1 Application Timestamp: 53f26441 Fault Module Name: MSVCR120.dll Fault Module Version: 12.0.21005.1 Fault Module Timestamp: 524f83ff Exception Code: c000001d Exception Offset: 0000000000093690 OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1 Locale ID: 1032 Additional Information 1: 819a Additional Information 2: 819a043203673251efadae20e43087cc Additional Information 3: 18b6 Additional Information 4: 18b63017637a7a4270f6f482a00cea4f I have installed both the 32bit and 64bit versions of the VC redist that the link next to the emulator download provide. I also tried re-install/repair them. Nothing works So, what am i missing by using the 32bit version? |

RE: 64 bit version crashes
Do you have Service Pack 1 installed for Windows 7?
Your OS Version (OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1) seems to indicate that you're still on plain ol' Windows 7 without the SP. (afaik, Windows 7 SP1 has an OS version of 6.1.7601) I recall another user having a similar issue with MSVC2013 and 64bit PPSSPP (for 64bit Windows 7) which got resolved by updating Windows 7 to SP1. PPSSPP Modern Testbed:- Intel Core i5 4690K @ 4.0 GHz NVIDIA Geforce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5 VRAM @ 1138/6500 Mhz 16 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600 MHz Windows 7 x64 SP1 PPSSPP Ancient Testing Rig:- Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 @ 2.8GHz ATI Mobility Radeon 4670 1GB GDDR3 VRAM @ 843/882 MHz 8 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1066 MHz Windows 7 x64 SP1 |

RE: 64 bit version crashes
no i don't have SP installed... i avoided it because i remember reading somewhere that it creates problems with compatibility and stuff
Thanks for the answer though... im not going to install SP just for this however, at least not now. So my last question is, how much better the 64bit PPSSPP version is, compared to the 32bit? I have a i5 4670 btw. |

RE: 64 bit version crashes
There's a known bug in the Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 runtime that causes this crash on Windows 7 without Service Pack 1 installed.
64-bit is not majorly different, but it depends mostly on your GPU drivers. 64-bit and 32-bit GPU drivers are often very different, even for the same card. The best way to tell is to test both. As far as PPSSPP itself is concerned, there are some differences in how the jit works, but nothing you will likely notice on a modern desktop. That said, I've been running Windows 7 SP1 for a long time and I've never had a compatibility issue. I imagine there are other bugs SP1 fixes. -[Unknown] |

RE: 64 bit version crashes
The only guidance I can find about potential/definite compatibility issues with SP1 from Microsoft is on their site:-
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2492938 PPSSPP Modern Testbed:- Intel Core i5 4690K @ 4.0 GHz NVIDIA Geforce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5 VRAM @ 1138/6500 Mhz 16 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600 MHz Windows 7 x64 SP1 PPSSPP Ancient Testing Rig:- Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 @ 2.8GHz ATI Mobility Radeon 4670 1GB GDDR3 VRAM @ 843/882 MHz 8 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1066 MHz Windows 7 x64 SP1 |
