PPSSPP does not detect L2 and R2 with DS4 controller

I am having the exact same problem. I want to map my r2 and l2 keys from my PS4 controller to triangle or circle or wherever. I know they work and that the laptop recognizes the input, but ppsspp itself isn't allowing me to use those buttons. I understand that the PSP does not have r2 and l2 and im fine with that, but I want to at least be able to use the trigger buttons as my face buttons or d pad or something. It would make a huge difference with some games (Armored Core Portable serise) and it seems like it would be simple enough to implement. Could someone help me with this? Is it at all possible to use the triggers from a ps4 controller on ppsspp or is this something that would have to be added in an update or new build?
