Photo Kano
Title: Photo Kano (フォトカノ)
Genre: Sim date, Visual novel.
Region: Japanese.
Format: ISO.
Game ID: ULJS00378
OS: Microsoft Windows.
Compatability: Playable.
Notes: Almost fully playable. The error is when you take a photo to some girl, this photo always shows grays, and you'll receive bad score. You need a decent score on Photos for advance on story. Some text is missing too. Also, you receive two constant errors on the log.
This game works well with JPCSP, but the graphics has more quality on PPSSPP on default. You can set up the graphics on JPCSP simmilar to PPSSPP, but the error when you take photos appear there too.

RE: Photo Kano
Should this really be in the Playable section?

Photokano quite literally can't be beaten unless the photo function works. It's just as bad as not being able to examine objects in Danganronpa.

Really hoping that this gets fixed. I had high hopes when you could actually get ingame a few updates ago, but photos both not showing up ingame or being saved to the screenshots folder kills any chance of the game being able to be played properly. Photos show up and are scored correctly in JPCSP under software rendering, but we all know that PPSSPP is the much faster emulator.

You got a point there khankhan (i don't have this game though).

Moved and updated the compatibility list.

● If you report (or happen to find any) game/mini/demo that's still not on the compatibility list yet even after 48 hours, you can PM me the link!
● Sorry for my bad english, I'm Indonesian.

RE: Photo Kano
The new simulate block transfer option actually lets you see the pictures you take under Buffered Rendering, but the game still can't seem to be able to tell what's on screen and give you a rating for it unless you set the emulator to Software Rendering.

Maybe this is similar to the issue people had with Dangan Ronpa, where you couldn't examine items on-screen?

RE: Photo Kano
I noticed you can't read the message in the beginning about installing system data unless you use the software render. I mean I think that's what it's asking since I can barely read Japanese. The message box looks like it's covering it or something. It did actually show up in the directx 9 render when depth sorting (is that what it's called?) wasn't working at all.

RE: Photo Kano
Any news about fixing this and iDOLM@STER?
v1.0-1-gf94e717 still doesn't recognize the pictures taken, even with software rendering and simulate block transfer.

RE: Photo Kano
It seems that the game still has problems taking photos even in the latest version (version 1.4.2) of the emulator in windows which I am using. This occurs even with software rendering and simulate block transfer enabled. Every time a picture is taken, it either display 3 possible results, all of which are considered errors since they are not what should occur when running the game on an actual PSP. Anyway, I am currently having problems uploading images so I will be using screenshots showing the same errors on other versions of the emulator since the errors I encounter are the same even though I am using a different version of the emulator from the one shown in the pictures.

The first is that the game does not recognize the picture taken and automatically rates the picture as bad with a grey screen. A picture of this error can be seen in the attachment in the previous post above.

The second type of error is when the game recognizes the picture taken but the picture which should have been correctly rated as "beautiful" is instead wrongly rated as "bad". A picture of this error can be below. By the way, the positions of the "correct" and "wrong" text seen in the picture should be reversed as the picture on the left is showing the aforementioned second type of error, while the picture to the right is showing the correct result as would be shown on an actual PSP.

The third type of error is when the game recognizes the picture taken and displays the correct result but the picture taken is displayed with glitched graphics. I would also want to mention that this error only occurs if the texture setting is set to nearest. Ironically, considering that it is neccessary to take pictures that receive high ratings in game in order to progress, this error needs to occur to progress the game once it reaches a certain point. A picture of the error can be seen below.

By the way, this issue had been bought up in the PPSSPP GitHub page as issue #7503 which I believe had not been resolved yet up to this date. A link to the GitHub page of this issue can be found below.

https://github.com/hrydgard/ppsspp/issues/7503

Interestingly, it seems that the android version of the emulator might have fixed this problem to some extent since I saw 2 youtube videos showing that it is possible to take pictures correctly without enountering any of the 3 aforementioned errors. I have no idea which version of the android emulator is used in the videos but the date the earliest video is uploaded is 29 June 2016 so I suppose it would be the latest android version of the emulator as of that date. Anyway links to the aforementioned videos are provided below.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Nmez0xTSeQ

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJ95ezRnP_Y

However, it also seems that the android version of the emulator used in the above videos also enounter the first error from time to time as shown in another 2 youtube videos which I linked below.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFiyHIydQ9M

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9s11nuiWmE

Furthermore, it seems that version of the android emulator also encounters a new type of error in which the picture taken is rated correctly but the the picture is shown in a grey screen. This can be seen in the youtube video linked below.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lF8BRkv4ZdM

All in all, I hope that someone will find the information I provided above useful in fixing the aforementioned errors so that the game will be fully playable someday.

On 1.8.0 Gold android on my Note 9 Pie, everything works flawlessly, from picture taking to the rhythm games with stock ppsspp settings.

RE: Photo Kano
Is it normal when taking photos, the in-game photo gallery looks very pixelated, and not smooth with PPSSPP?

And is Vita3K able to run the game?
